So there I am, going to werk as usual, get off a bit early only to find that my car had been broken into, and my $300 aiwa mp3/cd player was stolen. So I says to the guy "Sure go ahead and steal it, I don't mind, I worked hard for the money for it, where as you just took it." Anyways, that's what I would have said if I caught the little SOB. So now it looks like I'm out a lot of money to get a new unit, and god, I don't even really know what to type now. Im just really pissed off because I seriously doubt my insurance will cover it, unless I pay the $500 deductible, which is more than the unit itself
Also, I did buy a 4 year service plan for the unit when I bought it. The only reason I bought it was because I could upgrade to Aiwa's newer Mp3 cd player unit (when it would come out) for the difference in price. Does anyone know if I go buy another one, if it will be covered by the 4 year upgrade warranty?

Man that sucks, same thing happened to me last week. I went out to car for work and found out that my pioneer was gone =( That taought me to take the faceplate EVEN at home.... I got a new stereo from etronics.com They were pretty good priced. But depending ont he damage, the installation might get to be a big chunk also... Mine was expensive, I should have done it myself but I didn't have the confidence. Good luck.

Just wondering, do they usually jack cars without faceplates? just in hopes of finding the plates inside the car or something? I was stupid and did not take the plate off but not sure if that would have helped.

Heh.. sucks to be you. I have the same AIWA that you (used to) have. What's the deal about the upgrade when they come out with a new one? Where did you buy yours? I got mine from Crutchfield for $275.

I bought mine at Best Buy when they first came out for $299. I was not 100% sure if the player would read ID3 tags or filenames and the likes, so I bought their 4 year warranty which besides being a warranty would also allow me to upgrade to the next higher model for the cost of the difference. Im just hoping that if* I have to go out and purchase a new player, that I will still have the warranty on it, and the upgrade feature
* meaning, will have to due to the insurance company not regarding theft as anything important
