ok, i got my inetllimouse explorer, and plugged it into my USB port...stupid hardware wizard or whatever came up, and said i needed to insert my win98 disk to complete the setup or whatever, which unfortunately i dont have.

also tried it on my PS2 port, and same thing...is there anyway for me to download the necessary files or somethin to finish the setup so i dont have to go find someone with a win98 cd?

any help is greatly appreciated

All I have to say:

Always keep a copy of the Windows install files on your hard drive.

At, least that is what I do. It's only a couple hundred MB.

I believe you need to find yourself an install cd, man. Why don't YOU have it. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/eek.gif http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/wink.gif

Yea, you take your licensed copy *cough* and copy the win98 directory off of the CD onto the hard drive. Then refer it to that dir when it asks for the CD.

amazingly...i actually do have a licensed version of Windows 98. It was on my parent's bill though, and they probably didn't even get a good deal on it. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif Come to think of it...if someone paid retail for it, how can i allow it to be associated with my computer? Uninstall time!

If the box that comes up has a details button click on it and try to see exactly where the file was supposed to be. Chances are your last mouse drive used it as well and you actually already have the file needed. Most of those file are in c:windows, c:\windows\system, c:\windows\system32\drivers, c:\windows\inf, etc. Just browse to that directory and it may find it. If the directory does not appear it could a hidden directory and you will need to manually type in the directory. If you can boot without the mouse use your find function to locate the files, then repeat with each file that is not found. If this is too wordy an explanation sorry!
