dammit, I hate Rick people. And I hate Richards even more.
this brings up an interesting point. i once had a roommate that was a rick person. rick people are often not very courteous. i submit the following:
1. he would pick his nose and wipe it (the reward) on the furniture
2. he would leave his tissues all over the house after blowing his nose
3. he would have loud parties at times that were not always opportune (i like parties, but not at 4am when i gotta work at 8am)
4. he would put his clothes in the dryer to get the wrinkles out (which is fine, but in light of the other sanitary issues described above....changes the view of that altogether)
5. he got the private bathroom and i had to use the community bathroom, and we paid the same in rent
there are more examples, but you get the picture. and as LPM pointed out, richards may be even worse.

aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh this is why i hate people. j/k :p
It is funny mojo. There are more worthy candidates for that to be said of. For example I am not the one who keeps posting threads complaining about Bush.
You've obviously not looked at the Hardware and AMD realm lately Miller. So take this time now to go ahead and look. And if you were talking about the offtopic forum you've missed these threads:

Jesus Christ, you have over 2700 posts. You sure as hell better be able to scare up a handful where you're not mindlessly toeing the party line...
You know what, I got more.
You're not the one who's posting "I hate Bush" threads...BECAUSE YOU DON'T HATE BUSH! That's a brainstorm on my part, ain't it! Hot damn, imagine: there have been almost NO "I love breathing" threads posted by me OR you! I know you hate oxygen just as much as me, though...nevertheless, apparently, you like breathing, so you haven't posted anything about it. Good on you for not speaking up on the part of all us oxygen-phobes.
And you know what? You can be both obsessed with politics AND post a coupla lousy replies to non-political threads.
You know what else? Just because other people can be called hyper-political does not mean you suddenly cease to be hyper-political. Then again, your steadfast belief to the contrary would help to explain how continuing to bash Clinton absolves Mr. Bush of any wrongdoing...

it's sad, really. it seems that GA is becoming a political forum. and the slant is becoming apparent as well.
there was that comment to sbp....then another GA news person was disparaging me in another thread for pointing out the extreme prejudice of a regular forum user. without a disclaimer as to the stance of these parties, it would seem that GA itself holds these views. this is quite an endorsement.
as far as a debate...i can handle a debate. any sort of "in yo face" sort of remarks are fine, as long as they are not given the heft of GA backing. then i am just an ass....but not for any reason other than not spreading the hate. another irony for ya!
i don't mind something being presented to me in a friendly, objective fashion. however, some of us are feeling that we are in unfriendly territory because we don't hate someone. they don't all speak up, and i don't blame them. it can be frustrating.

Ah ha. Now you're talking about something of considerable difficulty. Do you suggest that anyone working for G|A not involve themselves in socio/economic/political debate for fear of exposing G|A's stance? Because I'll tell you, Apex has shown himself to be quite the conservative, even a *gasp* Christian conservative! Run for the hills, comrades!
Obviously, that's a pretty touchy subject, in that someone with a Got|Apex jpg in their sig would seem to have the weight of G|A behind their views. Who cares? Does LP having a "G|A endorsed" position make it any more valid?
And one more thing: please stop referring to it as hate. Hate is burning a cross on someone's lawn, or blowing up a Jewish nightclub. Hate is dragging a man by a rope behind your truck until he's decapitated. My spouting off about why I don't want any more GWB is far, far, far from hate. Accusing me or anyone else here of hate-mongering is so far from the truth as to almost be offensive. We're engaged here in political debate, discussion, and arguement. Your desire to make this forum less political is impossible in light of the fact that it's driven by it's readers. I don't see much political stuff on the front-page; that's pretty much all the G|A staff can do about that. If you want to see fewer political threads, stop reading and posting in them.

Seriously though, politics are a naturally impassioned topic that is going to incite and instigate a lot of emotional reponse. I was a poster and reader long, LONG before I stuck a G|A picture under my handle, and I only do that because I like sharing sports and entertainment stories. I would HOPE that that doesn't lend some additional credence to my opinions...
as usual, i see that you really know what is up with me :disa:
you even know what is up with the rest of us :disa:
in fact, you even know the solution: don't read them and don't post in them. well, hmmmmm....brilliant.
there are no impressionable ppl here are there. how about if i post a toilet joke? no, wait, i can't do that....it gets censored. other posts remain. yes, you do wear the GA badge of honor. if you can't see that, then look around until you do. cuz that's the fact. it ain't none of that opinion stuff.
when i am at work, there are certain things i can and can't say. that is the law of the land. if i am saying something that is touchy for my company, then i put a disclaimer forth.
pretty smug there telling ppl how to post and where.

How am I telling anyone where to post, or claiming to know what you're thinking? Did you not just say you wanted to see less political content? I'm sitting here telling you, short of detonating the off-topic forum, it can't be done, because not Apex, not Leon, not Darth, not ANYONE involved with G|A is starting these threads. That's what these people want to talk about! Have you noticed you're the only one saying they want to see fewer political threads? And furthermore, I'm not expounding on the G|A party line: I just said, Apex has views almost diametrically opposite to mine and, I guess, ironchef!
The no-nudity policy is the G|A endorsed position. The no-toilet humour policy is the G|A endorsed position. The no-referrals in the Got Deals? forum is the G|A endorsed position. Get it? THERE IS NO G|A ENDORSED POLITICAL POSITION. The fact that the staff come down on both sides of the fence, vocally so, should be a clear illustration of that.

did you read the stuff you wrote like i did? namely "If you want to see fewer political threads, stop reading and posting in them."
anyways...if you think i am the only one, you're mistaken. i am the one that says stuff. i get IMs all the time from ppl that tell me that things need to mellow out here in that realm. i won't say who, but i can tell you that i wouldnt lie about such a thing.
it is hate, by the way. when someone starts a thread saying "bush...blah blah blah....moron....blah blah blah....racist.....blah blah", that is hate. is it love? is it fact? is it even nice? hrmmmmm......
i see a lot of hate here, and it's pretty one sided.

Frankly... I like the fact that the forums are so political. I live in Isla Vista, California. This town is home to the students of the University of Califorinia, Santa Barbara. I dont want to generalise but in this case iI am at liberty to because this town is full of sheep. The people living here are 90 percent blindly liberal and closed minded. You cannot comment on anything even mildly related to a liberal viewpoint without being harassed and yelled at. 99 percent of the people here live by the motto of "get drunk get girls and who cares about everything else". Im glad i have this escape (gotapex) to actually stimulate my mind in heated debate about political subject matter cause im just sick to death of hearing about the pros and cons of "natty ice" vs "miller high life".
I personally lean a little to the right these days, but I do not support Bush in most cases. I havent noticed any change as of yet in my standard of living and my freedoms so im not gonna condemn the man. I will however speak my views on what he does and im glad people are willing to listen and rebute what I say. I would also like to point out that I think no more of Clinton than i do Bush. i think both of them are intirnsically flawed for different reasons. It just seems to me that there is no point in discussing clintons flaws because he is no longer relevant to me or my status as an american citizen.
My problems stand with people who are religiously influenced on political matters. I understand that this country is founded on judeo-christian ethics but I still belive that to a degree people should still be afforded the right to live how they want and not feear eternal damnation for listening to rock music or following a faith other than the one that specifies Jesus Christ.
I also commend people like sbp for stating his view even if they differ from the masses. I often do as well.
So basically what i want to say is..be political take interest in the future of your country and dont let anyone stop you. I have never held Apexes comme nts to be the belifs of gotapex nor millers or anyone elses. Got apex in the general sence is a technology oriented site. what goes on in the off topic forums hold no bearing on the rest of the site. I do not see any way we can beg our right to free speech while shutting up the people who provide us the ability to utilize our rights.

honestly, LPM, i have always thought of you to be professional here. that comes from somewhere. and largely things have been professional here, aside from crazyace's spelling. so there must be some sort of guideline. and pennypinch's news seems all fine to me as well. there are levels at which we present ourselves under this umbrella.

But they didn't continually post "I hate Clinton" threads. Don't think so? Use the search button and see how many "I hate Clinton" threads were posted compared to "I hate Bush" threads. Case closed.
Do you suggest that anyone working for G|A not involve themselves in socio/economic/political debate for fear of exposing G|A's stance?.No. We're suggesting you tone down your angry little ass of a man act. Even your own buddy Butch knows you can overreact (http://www.gotapex.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=26273).
And don't come back with this "sbp insulted me. Just wonderfull " crap. You've sat there and dished out things like Joe McCarthy, Pat Buchanan or you're not mindlessly toeing the party line...
Because I'll tell you, Apex has shown himself to be quite the conservative, even a *gasp* Christian conservative!?Apex posts on rare occasions. He does not go into thread after thread slamming people because they disagree with his opinion. Apex is way too busy doing deals and running the site.
Apex has views almost diametrically opposite to mine and, I guess, ironchef!Apex doesn't shove his views down other people's throats as you do. Doing some news does not allow you to do that.
that is all that one would want. just don't force views on others. have your view. enjoy it. share it. but don't get carried away and then point a finger at me for calling it like it is.

Oh, that was downright hilarious. When, WHEN, have I ever tried to impress upon people that I'm intrinsically better or can tell people what to do because I post news? That's so pungently stupid, and I, for one, know I'd never do that, nor do I think anyone else who posts news does that. That's a non-starter, and you know it.
As for going into thread after thread: do a search on "Clinton" and your username. 80 seperate threads. Yes, you're a goddamn saint when it comes to turning the other cheek. And god knows you didn't just post once in each of those 80 threads. The only reason I invoked Apex's political views is to illustrate that we're not sitting here, huddled on ICQ, trying to figure out the best way to push our commie pinko agenda. The guys who post news are pretty politically diverse.
Frankly, I'm amazed this thread is this long. m0j0 bristles at the idea that politics are being discussed on this forum. sbp pops off for being called "political concerned", which, until now, I did not recogize as an epithet. Where's the beef?

No. Because I wasn't speaking of gotapex, and because everyone seems to be in attack mode, and I just wandered un unexpectedly.
There is a guideline. But that doesn't preclude having an opinion, defending ones self, etc. I will admit Penny can come out of the gate swinging, but I don't see anyone else pulling their punches either. Calling out the "You work here" card just deflects the argument, and diminishes the person it's aimed at.
And considering not everyone who works here has an Apex tag, or is even known to others to BE working here, it is irrelevant.
Geez, these threads are like all those bumper stickers people put on cars - declaring what they think about abortion, politics, or their honor student. Makes me want to have one that says "thank you for assuming I give a rats butt"
If people don't like the bush threads, don't read em. God, this whole thread is plain stupid. I ain't playing anymore.
well, now...that would be just fine and dandy if that shit would just stay in the bush threads, huh? but it doesn't...so i am subjected to it anyways.
