hi folks,
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a video card like the all-in-wonder radeon with the mpeg2 recording ability and TV functions/inputs ....I don't really like ATI due to their sketchy drivers and slow updates.(seems like they always abandon cards before any really stable useable drivers are available)
Is there a way to combine 2 cards?...like one for video/capture combined with a GF3 w/tv functions?
thanx :-)

my radeon all in wonder is rock solid with the newest beta drivers, asus has geforce 2's and 3's and such with some of the all in wonders capabilities, but nothing can match its versatility, go radeon, you wont wanna go back

I've been toying with my AIW lately and it really is a nice card.
But, for the other side of the coin that you were looking for...
Asus does make "Deluxe" versions of the GeForce cards, although I don't think they have a GF3 deluxe yet (I could be wrong). Anyway, most people that I've chatted with think the ATI video hardware suite is far better than the Asus stuff.
If you don't want to go the ATI route, you're best bet is a cheaper GF3 and a good($$) PCI add-in baord from Haupgauge. It's going to be ~$150-$200 more for the combo, but you're have better game performance and the TV in/out features you're looking for.
One last note, I don't know of any other video card that does the TIVO-like stuff that the AIW does, because the AIW uses the high-bandwidth of the AGP bus to do on-the-fly mpeg2 compression-very cool.
Hope that helps.

you also CANNOT match the quality of the on board ati rage theater chip that does taht cool shnit, its better quality than most add on boards you can get or those "deluxe" geforces, radeon was built ground up to have the best video and output and graphics quality in the buisness, not to be the fastest, geforces were built for speed, you cant put some third party chip on board and make it a pretty color call it better than a radeon cause it gets 300 fps in q3 rather than 100..hehe, i used the radeon to hook up tv out to my 1981 19 inch tv, how cool is that.
one more cool think i did, i hooked the tv up thru tv out, hooked the cable up to my radeon, watched tv on my tv thru tv out and on my comp thru the cable, i did it because i could, try that on your little deluxe geforces..hehehe
grandmasterk: The Radeon line of videocards has decent drivers.
As said previously in this thread All-in-wonder Radeon does more than Asus's multimedia line of videocards.
Asus has a GeForce 3 deluxe out:

My suggestion is to read reviews before making your decision.

I bought an AIW Radeon 32 pretty shortly after they came out to put in a new PC that I'm just getting ready to build. I'm glad to hear such praise, and I'm wondering if there are any issues involving early AIWs versus later production.

The only changes that I'm aware of that was made to the AIW line midstream was the quality of memory. All that should affect is how high you can overclock. My memory is 6ns and can be overclocked safely to 191. Some have better memory (5.0 and 5.5ns) and have pushed theirs to over 200MHz.
