I need some information about a place called Neo-Athens....
now... I might not have my facts straight.... but I found a web page that has some answers..
here is the link http://geocities.com/TimesSquare/Labyrinth/5851/Geog-NeoAthens.html
The page claims that that this Palace of Joy is the First wonder of the world..... but isn't that the pyramids in egypt??
can anyone provide me with any more info?
I tried metacrawler, yahoo, and google.. a search for Neo athens, palace of Joy, and something else...
all pointed to this one page.... no other page came up....

i would need more info. "neo" can be affixed to any word or name to describe such a place or thing in reference or reverence to another place or thing from a previous time. if it is Neo Athens, it may be a contemporary place or something. i dunno if it would be mythology at all. it could be a housing project for all we know.
if this is supposed to be a mythology thing, i may actually look either in places that reference athens (maybe the more recent times in athens were dubbed neo athens as a reference to a rebuilding effort, or maybe she was moved at some point or something). i would also try looking at places that may have used it as a nickname to show that they are on the cutting edge of progress. i am hoping they don't mean athens, georgia :P

Neo athens... as in... New Athens... like... i don't know if this is accurate or not... but... lets take New York as an example...
I'm assuming that there is a place in England called York... so when the English came.. they established NEW YORK!
or something of that sort...
Neo Athens.. or Neoathens... however it is spelled.... is supposed to have been built on the West Coast of North America.... where the Palace of Joy for Achilles was built.....
thats all I have come up with.....
well, no wonder i am not finding anything. i was taking that link you referenced as mumbo jumbo, since you said it may not even exist and all. and i dunno if this qualifies as mythology, or even greek. i'll let you know if i see anything

heheheh...
My assignment was to get information on Neo-Athens... and a building there.....
vague huh? what else can you expect from a community college humanities class during the summer!
well... that web page is what I came up with...
i'm assuming it's Greek Mythology... because first off.. neo-ATHENS... the building I found was this Palace of Joy... for Achilles... who is Greek... i think...
but I can't find out anything else.....
i got my brain working... and I figured.. that if you look at a flat map of the earth... Egypt lies on the WEst Coast of North America... and that this palace of Joy.. could be teh Great Pyramid at Giza... in Egypt......
talk about laying THAT one at the teacher! SO Neo_athens could be either Egypt or Giza??

Man, don't you ever listen to TMBG?
Everyone knows that New York was not what it was named until *much* later.
"Even Old New York was once New Amsterdam."
MM
P.S. Why they changed, I can't say...people just like it better that waaaayyyyy.....
