okay, need some help from all the clubheads out there. keep hearing this song, but you know that by the time clubs actually switch over to techo it's gotten late and sobriety is long gone so trying to remember words or even how a song goes is a real b!tch, especially when the words aren't in english. anyway, one of my friends said she thinks it's hungarian and is about gypsies? it's got a choppy beat (real helpful, right?) and the words are something like: bana da gama, bana utzi gama. anybody?

Heh, yeah.

All techno songs sound the same anyways, trying to describe one is near impossible.

Yeah, I've got that record. I'll dig it out when I get home tonight and let you know tomorrow. Out of curiosity, why are you looking for the name of the track?

Ha! You just haven't heard good techno. Everybody hears club stuff and assumes that all "techno" sounds like that. Go listen to some Orbital, some Squarepusher, and some Roni Size, and then tell me that all techno sounds the same.

you know how when you hear a song you associate things with it? well, saturday was another good night and it all started with that song, a blonde and a dance.

Your prolly right. The best techno I've heard so far was on my Gameboy.

while you guys are at it, could you please help me with this one trance song?

i just know that in the middle of the song you hear this clip from "The Exorcist":

"The power of Christ compells you ..." and it repeats a few times. it would be so cool if anyone here knows the title 'cuz i've been looking for it for a while now :)

Dammit. I found the record last night, but it's a promo copy - just has a white label, no artist or label info. Sorry!

I think one of my friends has got it, too, so maybe he's got a normal copy. I'll check with him on Thursday at my club residency.

Orbital is totally hot, but i totally know how target feels, about a year ago, i remembered a song that i heard onece so i set out to find who sang it and the name of the song, i haven't slept for 2 days until i actually found what i was looking for, but then i listened to the song and just fell asleep oh so well so it was worth it. :)

squarepusher kicks. and any song that has no singing is NOT "techno". but if you dont kno about it then i guess you can call it techno. 187, dj shadow, unkle, gus gus, dj hype, aphex twin and one true parker are good djs to look up if ur interested in techno. you'll find out that the diff beats give off different vibes. but then again ja-rule and jay-z are kool too :D

Hmmm I was probably wrong, but I was guessing it was a song on the "Fat of the Land" album called "Narayana" cause in the middle of that song it has a part where the music quiets down and these guys (hungarian monks maybe :D) start chanting "Um Nama Narayana." That sort of sounded like the phrase you mentioned!! my bad!

"bana da gama, bana utzi gama," "Um Nama Narayana".....close enough!! :D

Yup I like it a lot too. I like the song "Breathe" where they sampled sword fighting sound effects (clashing of swords) from kungfu movies and used them as the beats...I thought it was pretty ingenious.

ice you the man...my girlfriend, who i love madly, is a guitar player and she's really into folky music. which i am too. but my true passion is some good electronic music. been listening to aphex twin, roni size, squarepusher, orbital, tricky, dj shadow, etc... for years...and now that we're together, i try to introduce her to some of it. if i make the mistake of prefacing it with "this is techno, but it's really good..." i almost always get a veto. people out there have a misconception on the different variations of electronic music. yes there's the repetative beats and cheesy samples of most club music, but there are some truly talented artists in the field. anyone who doubts, check out aphex twin or squarepusher.

i'm not knockin anyone who says techno is all the same...they just haven't been exposed to the variations of it. do yourself a favor and look a little deeper...there's some great stuff out there.

Nice post, aglio.

Sorry, target! I keep meaning to rip the damn record, but I haven't been home for more than 10 waking minutes in the last couple days! My label-mate, Chris Tirrell, has dragged me into the studio every night this week to help him finish up the editing on his new CD, because the CD's got to be out the door by Friday afternoon. (actually, if anyone's interested, I'll probably post a link to an MP3 preview copy) So it's been: leave work at 6:30 PM, go to studio, leave studio at 1:30 AM, go home, sleep til 6:30 AM, go to work, etc. If you can't find out the name by Saturday, though, I'll still try to rip it for you. Good luck!

Good luck with the mix - I don't know which one I've got, but I'll rip it tomorrow if you haven't gotten it yet. And now I can label the damn record. So I guess I should thank you, target! Glad you found it. :)

Say I'm trying to find this techno song too.

The beat goes like this:

OOM-che-OOM-che-OOM-che-OOM-che...

Any thoughts?

ha

I'm just...dying...of....laught...no, I'm just dying...

Besides, as everyone knows, the proper way to beatbox generic techno is:

"oontz oontz oontz oontz..."

Try it, you'll see what I mean. :D
