At home, I'm mixing PC100 and PC133 SDRAM with no problem - I was advised, in fact, when buying new RAM, to go with the 133 so that when I got a motherboard that supported it, I could take advantage of the faster speeds. I'm having no problems whatsoever, and I've been happy with the setup.

Now, however, I have a customer that has a 64MB PC100 stick in their Asus CUV4X and it works fine, but when they add in the 256MB stick of PC133 we sold them, the "software runs slow and choppy as if I were running with only a 32MB chip!"

I guess that I had thought that mixing these kinds of RAM would be no problem, and that PC133 RAM was just capable of running at 133 and it didn't need to necessarily. A friend of mine, however, says that the ability to mix SDRAM speeds and have everything work is a board-dependent feature. Anyone have an idea of what's going on?

it might be that the mother boiard can't support 256 chips, or thet the 256 is the first chip and it is trying to run @ 133 and the 64 chips is like slowing it down, try and havethe 64 in slot 0...

that's all I can think of, I have it mixed in a few systems without fail.....

Why is he even leaving the 64mb DIMM in???
What happens with just the 256?
