Can the Nomad II play copied MP3s? Does it have some sort of copy protection like some other MP3 players? Thanks.

My Rio500 plays copied MP3s, so I'm taking a guess that the Nomad II can as well.

The Nomad II is SDMI compliant. I don't know that the limitations of SDMI files are, but I don't see how it could know where you got the mp3 file from.
The reason I asked is b/c Sony's got an MP3 player that's got some sort of copy protection.

You downloaded 10 isos on a 56k modem??? http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/eek.gif http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/eek.gif How long did it take? http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif
i think Sony that one let u use "copy" MP3, but u just need to re encode it. It just freaking troublesome. Sony that one fr what i heard let u rip a audio fr CD to their player. but no mp3 directly dl, but i think u can convert mp3(with their software)to their format.

The sony just converts CD's over to a (ughh) propriatary format of theirs. This way, everyone is happy, the device is useless, and Kid Rock can afford cheerios and beer. Yippeee!
Seriously, though, I believe the Nomad II takes any of our favorite MP3 Audio files and copies it directly to the flash card, then plays them. The Sony only gets away w/ what they do because it can only use the interface THEY provide to copy music over to the player.
Note: not positive, someone correct me if I'm wrong http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif.
That is awful that Sony does that. I couldnt see any MP3 collector who actually plays tons of MP3s playing $300+ for an intellectual property morality lesson.

Boycott the sony mp3 player!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you read the reviews, all of them say to avoid Sony because of the copy protection.
Obviously, Sony's the only one to incorporate the protection - they're both a label and hardware manufacturer.
Anyway, what types of isos are people d/ling out there. Share the wealth, post your ftp.

It is an upgrade feature that you have to download from NomadWorld.com
It's not standard yet on the Nomad II
