Picked it up today, and got about 2 hours of gametime.....excellent game. Five stars. What do you guys think?
Great game. It showed me how poor of a driver I really am. Even with the GT Force wheel. *sigh*

IMHO... I think the steering wheel sucks! Cheap, cheap plastic all around. Maybe I need a little more time driving with it, but I dont like it at all.
As for the game, I have only one complaint. The screen size is too small(the objects are too large). Your car is considerably bigger than in past GT's, and I just dont seem to get that sensation of speed anymore. I think adjusting the rear view angle would help some as well; it seems a little to low to me. I am up in the air about the in-game SFX. I like the constant hum of the engine, but the road noise gets a little annoying. Realistic, yes. I enjoy it for that. But a little annoying. I only got to play for about 45 min today. Maybe Ill get into it a little more tomorrow.
BTW, what car can you buy for under 18K to start your sim mode game? They got rid of all the lower end consumer models as far as I can tell.

I had hoped the game looked better, but I guess I'm spoiled from watching Final Fantasy just before playing it.
Can't drive if my life depended on it, I need that wheel.
Why did they call it A-Spec?

You spoiled brats!!! I want one.
Of course if I went out and bought a system, the game, and the wheel, I'd get one severe ass kicking from my dad for not acting my age. :(
:heh:
Man, I should goad my little cousin into getting a system and "borrowing" it for a long, long, long, long time.

ya, I finally decided to get the Beetle because of its power to weight ratio. But alas, the damn thing is slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....... I even got the chip and exhaust, and still have a rough time winning the super speedway on sunday cup. Must pry self away from game...

With any extra $$$, I do stuff I want. Sorry if Im sounding defensive, its late, and Ive worked a whole hell of a lot lately.

Dude take it easy, just saying that I want one too, but can't afford that's all. I guess that wasn't the best way to say it but yeah.
I love GT. I take my cousin's PS away for a few weeks at a time and play that till the sun comes up.
Can you transfer cars from GT1 and 2 into GT3? That'd be so great. I had some crazy HKS dragsters in GT2.
I believe you can only transfer your license.
i love this game. *orgasm* this is the most fun I have had since the last time i got some.... erg... I mean... *runs away and hides*

Man o man.. i got sucked into it today. My beetle keeps getting wasted, so its time to get a new car. Im lookign at the civic type-r. Nice little FF, some pep, and can even slap up to a stage 3 turbo in it. One thing I noticed... tires cost a lot now. But once again, GT has sunk its little hooks into me. Now I will devote almost every waking moment to winnign races and gettign new cars. Damn you GT3!!!
I feel Stupid.
I got the A and B and was halfway through the IB liscense *yawn, i'm tired, and i can't spell* and i had finished the Sunday Cup.. Figured it had saved, somewhere, yeah, I was wrong. Doh. Looks like i start from scratch.
Mazada Miata 17,000 :) that's what i started with. The Beetle sux, in my opinion.

Neato thing about the Miata (J) is that you can put a blower on it and get a horsepower to weight ratio of like 3. Hot as hell, and a big money maker. Just head over to the covertible/spider circuit and kill 'em. Sure, you won't be able to stay on the track, but so long as you can stay around on the straightaways, you'll kill the competition.

hey...I think the miata is good AND can handle! Just hit the brakes once in a while.
Bob Costas and Mary Hart's Lovechild? Man Pennypinch, you need to get apex to change that...I'm not sure how long you can live with that under your name. hehehehe

Ha. New car, and new level of ass kickage. I've only been playing Sunday and last night, but I got a Camaro SS (and some gold chains and a multi-coloured tracksuit). With a few mods, it tops out at 196 mpg. Easy money maker: the Naturally Aspirated track. Wow, there are some sucky, sucky cars in there, and the prize is 5K. Plus a Del Sol (woot!).
I'm amazed how much some of the better racing tires help, though. Totally changes the game.

Those damn license tests are too damn hard. I can pass all of them, but I can only get gold on a few of them.....for those that don't know, if you get gold on all tests then you are awarded a car.....and one of them (I think the second or third license) is the Nissan Concept Z. I really want that car!
Anyway, I am back to playing now.....
If you beat the 80's circuit with Golds you get the Mazada Miata LS (bah look it up, it's the one after the 17,000 one)
that is where i have been hanging out.. 2,500 for a 1st place hehe and one of the tracks is the test track ;P

Forget that. It's all about the Naturally Aspirated races. They have the bootiest wack cars running in that thing. Also, if you have a decent car, you can make pretty serious change racing in the last one (Gran Turismo Championship?). 10K for winning a race, an extra $50K for winning the whole enchilada. I only got a stupid Skyline at the end of it (I got silver in one of the races), but the credits enabled me to buy the second nicest Porsche. Just an FYI, you can slap a blower onto that one too.

I finally saved up enough money to get the Viper GTS, and I have been able to pump it up to 1050 hp. It is ungodly fast. Only problem is that I can't keep the damn thing on the road. I bought the super-slick tires, and they work wonders, but they also get too hot after like 2 laps, and then you are back to driving all over the road again. I am able to get on one of the test tracks in the amatuer league and win 25,000 every time, but that gets old after awhile. I need a super fast car that actually handles well. Or maybe I just need more practice with my Viper.

ok guys....I know jack sh*t about cars and mods to them. I went to the gt3 garage and I just got blown away at the stuff you can get. I just looked at how much horsepower each thing gives you, but a lot of the parts don't have that. Can someone please help me by telling me what all the parts do??

Well, most of the things in the engine intake portion deal with engine parts; most of them'll add horsepower, but they'll also affect engine response. For instance, I don't usually buy the big-time exhaust package 'cuz it F's with your low-end response, and unless I'm doing the stupid test track or speedway, it's all about low-end grunt.
Drive train deals more with engine responsiveness and behavior. The clutchplates make shifts a little quicker, the flywheels improve acceleration, I have no idea what the driveshaft does, and I'm still totally puzzled by the limited slip differentials and what the hell they do.
Brakes, suspension, obvious.
Turbos, obvious.
The brake balancer is something you might want in case you're having bigtime oversteer or understeer issues.
So far my modification schedule has been something like: Computer chip, flywheel, tires, exhuast package, turbo, suspension, brakes, better tires, after that it's pretty small performance increments. Except for tires. I'm running semi-soft's and I don't think I'll ever be beaten again. :)

How about gear ratios?

Oh! Forgot about that. The different gearboxes make the gears progressively closer, meaning they are incresingly the same. The final one allows you to actually customize the gearbox. For instance, I had a Miata with 260 hp, but it would only go 140 mph because the last gear wasn't tall enough; that is, it kept hitting the red line even in 5th gear. The most expensive gearbox would allow me to alter it such that I would be able to use the full power of the engine. The first two make the gear ratios more geared towards low-end torque.
