The home page of MSN has a controversial topic of the day called Slate. You can read postings or submit postings on the topic. Sometimes I will submit a reply. Man, many of the readers are so uptight. Yesterday, the topic was about guns. I started joking about how bullets kill people and not guns. And they had a topic about ugly or fat people not getting promoted or hired. I am always amazed at the reactions to topics that would never have gotten a reaction years ago. They really are vehement!!

i've never visited those particular forums, but i know the type. i try to avoid the public areas on hugely trafficked sites, like yahoo, zdnet, etc. the problem is that there are just so many people reading that stuff, mostly mindless trolls, that there's never anything of value there. it's like every 13 year old in the country with atrocious spelling and worse grammar suddenly had the urge to regurgitate every stinkin' piece of racist, bigoted and utterly useless tripe they've heard from their parents, peers or mtv.

in fact, reading that crap makes me want to go out and clip off the ol' wedding tackle, 'cause i know if i ever brought something like that into the world, i'd be forced to take 'em out.

The net has made it easy for people to behave that way. Best thing to do is spend your time more productively.
