View Full Version : Is banging out-dated?
Did you used to bang?
Have you ever banged?
Do people look at you weird if you are banging?
Oh yeah, I mean Head Banging :)

I think it's migrated from the head-bang to the mosh pit. No one seems to head-bang at a concert anymore. Just jump around and kick the shit out of people. Not that I'm complaining or anything. Static-X had one of the best mosh pits I've been in! :D
When I went to Ozzfest I felt really old, cause I was like half-head banging. This would be ok for most people, but seeing that I am 22, I found a problem.
I love Moshing. :)

Depends...if you're in seats and theres no piut, head-bang away. But if there's a pit forming nearby, jump in it

Static-X definitely has some high energy music. When I first hear "This is not" months and months ago, I had to download it just as an energy song, and the clips I've seen from their concerts are "wild".

ps - i have to vote along with the rest of the forum. Moshing is the replacement for headb-banging, but when there aren't enough people energized at a concert yet, sometimes you just have to bang to increase energy in your area of the crowd. I'm always one of the first guys into the pit. Oh well...I'm seeing the Offspring later tonight with Millencolin and TSOL, so let's hope the pit there isn't pathetic (and that they play some songs from the second to last CD and my favorite, "Smash it Up" from the Batman Forever album...).

the last time i headbanged was a concert my senior year in high school... that woulda been 93-94... amnesty int'l chapter sponsered the concert, had some fairly decent local bands, and then the band back of dave got kicked out by the principal for taking off their shirts. that was laaaaaaaaaaaaaame... like most of high school was laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame...

Okay, Offspring was great...but Universal Amphitheater sucks. They don't let people with great orchestra seats jump those few rows into the pit area because "those are different tickets", but they cost the same amount!! I am a mosher...I always mosh. I kept looking at the pit and wanting to be there, and wanting to kick it up 5 notches because occasionally it would die down. I hate Universal...

ps - I almost punched one of the security guards; he could tell that I was getting really pissed off at his curt replies and dick attitude, so he grabbed his radio and called for back-up...so before they arrived, I faked jumping at him, and this big 250+ pounder jumped back like two steps from my 165 pound fein. What a loser. I just laughed, held my middle finger about an inch from his face (he obviously was trying hard not to flinch this time), and walked back to my seat, fuming because I couldn't get into the high-energy section where I wanted to be.

head banging is too solitary. Mosh-pits, crowd surfing...now there you get to have just as much fun TOGETHER =P

Yeah but sometimes, Like ProMinx said, you just can't get into the "social" areas of the concert.
I was disappointed in the lack of enthusiasm at Offspring though, they couldn't keep a pit going for a whole song.. *shakes head*

Why don't they just make those kind of shows General Admission? Wouldn't it make more sense?

I would think so too...but I guess there are some people somewhere who disagree...
How many times did I look at the pit when it was in full swing wishing I could be there...and how many times did I look down at the pit that had died for no reason mid-song, while some fool was bouncing around the middle thinking that he was the best mosher in the world...and then I wanted to go down just to correct his misconception
