...where are we headed as a country? Is it America's destiny to continuously indulge in an orgy of materialism and all-you-can-eat buffets, eating the world alive?
Or is there a greater spiritual and philosophical future in store for US? What did we found this country for exactly, freeways and big macs? Do we have any obligation to put the world back to what it was before the British system of economics, which we have so well adapted to our own means, turned it into the present mess?
Are Americans entitled to continue to do what we are doing without thinking where this is all leading? Or do we have a special obligation to lead the way out of this? Having seen both the extremes of unbridled capitalism and unbridled communism, can we find a balance? Does the mix of cultures we have generously allowed to take root in this country give US a special advantage?
