This is one of the best portable MP3 player out there. Comes with 64MB memory on-board with USB interface and backlit LCD display. It also features a very compact form factor. Upgrade the unit to 128MB by purchasing a 64MB SmartMedia card which cost less than $40. Amazon has this same player for $235!! This deal is just unbelievably hot!
Buy.com price: $100.79 - $50 mail-in rebate (http://www.riohome.com/default.asp?menu=support&submenu=cs&item=rebate_info&detail=coupons) = $50!!
The rebate expires on 12/31/01.
This deal was posted on HotDealz.com (http://www.hotdealz.com/InternetHotDeals.shtml)

Heh. It's not "unbelievibly" hot, but good nonetheless. eBay has the same thing for about $60 without the hassles of rebates.

All the ones that were in near-new or better condition, and have closed in the last day or so have gone for $75-100+ before shipping (most have gone for $100+).

Can you listen to this unit without using headphones? And are the headphones decent?
It's actually a pretty good (not the best) MP3 player. I got mine for 12.95 from http://www.audible.com after signing up for a year long subscription program. With it, you get 2 audiobooks per month, which works out perfect for me ( I put on about 1-2,000 miles per month for work). I was going to list that on this forum, but didn't think people would think it a great deal... anywho... yeah, you need the earbuds to listen to the audio, there's no radio tuner in it (like in the Nomad II....a great deal a while back), and comes with 64 megs of onboard memory with a smartcard expansion slot.....

http://www.techbargains.com just noted that this unit may be a refurb and it may not qualify for the rebate. I am glad I waited.

What??? Refurbished?? If it was a refurbished unit, wouldn't buy.com have to list it as such?? Oh, if that's the case, I am going to be pissed!!! :mad3:

After checking the forum over at fatwallet.com (yes, I actually visited another forum! ), it appears that some people that were less lazy than I actually contacted buy.com about the refurbished inquiry. buy.com states that these units are not refurbished, but are clearance items, which is why color selection is not available. Sooo, rebates should work just fine! :D
