I went to CompUSA and got the 12x TDK. When I got home I noticed that the picture in the ad shows a different cd tray than the one I purchased. I looked at the box and noticed on the tray of the drive it says 12/10/32A.
I was wondering if this is the same drive.
Also is "JustLink" the same as "Burn-Proof".
Some one please help, I am afraid to open the box. I don't want to pay a 15% restocking fee.

The "A" model is not the same as the original TDK.
The 121032(no A) was a rebadged plextor.
The 121032A is a rebadged Ricoh.
Justlink is similar to burnproof, but the stuff I have read has burnproof giving slightly better results. But for most people they should perform similarly.
Although I would personally prefer the non "A" model because its a plextor inside. Which is why I have one.
Just as an FYI, I had the TDK 16x and I had nothing but problems with it. So I went to the 12x model(it was cheaper anyway).

Does the 12/10/32 "Plextor" have burn proof or is that just on TDK's 16x and higher models?
Also do you happen to remember where you found the reviews on them?
Thanks for the help.

Actually, Justlink had better specs than the original incarnation of Burnproof. The gaps when it resumes writing in Justlink is smaller than the 12x version of Burnproof. Sanyo improved Burnproof's gap specs with the introduction of the 16x cdrws.

So Sillycon,
Would you recomend this rebadged "Ricoh(12/10/32A)" over the rebadged "Plextor(12/10/32)" out of the two TDK models.
Please explain you answer.
Also can you point me to and good review sites.
Thanks I just want to make sure I get the best deal since I could try to exchange it.

I've heard that Ricoh units were a little buggy(I don't know if they were fixed with later firmware revisions) so I'd choose the Plextor model.
