be unemployed like me and everyday is a vacation day.
Simple steps to be unemployed at MSFT:
1. Suggest that your next project be "open source"
2. Suggest that perhaps they offer a less restrictive licensing scheme that doesn't add everyone to a huge marketing database that also keeps tabs on everything you do
3. Ask for some Sun servers
4. Hint that maybe they are being a bit anti-competitive and maybe that Judge in Washington is on to something

The amount of energy needed to make Friday get here faster isn't worth it. Speeding it up significantly would require the equivalent energy of tens of thousands of stars. A time machine, on the other hand, requires far less energy. Unfortunately, mine is in storage ubtil plutonium prices come down...

because vacation doesn't mean going away. it means not being at work. :) i went away for the weekend, came home monday. went up to my parents tuesday for the rest of the week. this morning i was checking the forums while i was waiting for my sisters to get their acts together for my annual birthday trip to riverside (now known as six flags new england). and now i'm so tired that i just can't sleep. but i don't really want to go back to work on monday.

IntegraTypeR: Any suggestions of any places to go up there? It's my first time in Canada. I'll be staying in the Richmond area if that helps.

If you want to go to Azn Malls go to Aberdeen Centre, Parker Place, or Yaohan Centre. Great shopping on Robson Street (it's their downtown). For sushi (all you can eat for $10.99 after 9 pm) go to Richmond Sushi. If you have time to a trip to Victoria to see the Butchardt (sp?) Gardens. Metrotown mall is also another great mall. There is an aquarium that is pretty good... it's the only acquarium there (to my knowldge) but can't remember hte name right now. Oh, there's an Ikea ^.^ but I don't now if you want to go there. Sun Sun Wah Seafood Restaurant is an excellent place for Chinese food. Then again, there are many good Chinese restaurants there ^_^

Ha! Sounds like someone's way into the asian mall scene. Yes, if you're going to be staying in Ditchmond, you'll basically be in Asian central. It'll kinda be like a flatter, less crowded Hong Kong. Watch the drivers: I'm serious, you always want to think it's some sort of stupid stereotype, and then you drive in Richmond.
As far as stuff to see: a morning run on the Seawall is always sort of invigorating. If you're into shopping, Robson Street it is. Check out Mexx and Zara for decently priced stuff that lasts pretty well and looks good. Death by Chocolate (on Broadway and...???) has excellent deserts and is open well after dinnertime. I wonder if they still run the chocolate buffet in the Meridian Hotel (Robson and Burrard)?
Generally speaking, the restuarants in Vancouver are the best...well, in the world. Sure as hell beats the slop factories they have in LA or San Fran. Cioppino is pretty good, as is Lumiere. If you're a seafood fan, definitely get it in the Northwest. It's always frozen in SoCal. :( There used to be this place I liked going to called Quattro's on Fourth, but I think the chef and owners deserted the place, so I think their new place is on Pacific and something. Place's name starts with a Z, methinks. Oh yeah, try Gotham Steakhouse: VERY underrated, but one of the better steaks and rooms I've had, maybe better than everything 'cept Boulevard up in SF.
Going out-wise, my friends that still live there tell me the hot joint is some swanky strip club. Brandi's. Here's a url: http://www.clubvibes.com/listings/listingsdetail.asp?id=37.
Enjoy.

Don't worry, I'm having his connection flight cancled and he will have to spend 18 hours at the airport. His bags will be spending his vacation in Tahiti. I'm also having his credit cards canceled and aranging to have him mugged at the airport, to relieve him of any cash funds he might have laying around. His hotel reservation has been moved to a room that is under renovation and the rest of the hotel is booked. I've got it covered...
