View Full Version : Help!! My roof is on fire!!!

This morning I was sleeping a bit late (the advantage of being out of work).
As I stumbled out of bed, I smelled something burning.
I checked my computer...
...no fire
I checked my refrigerator...
...no fire
I looked around...
...no see fire, but my place was filling with acrid smoke
I turned on the fan...
I went outside...
...FIRE!!!!!
The roof of the carport (with my car underneath) was flaming.
I panicked and rang the doorbell of my nextdoor neighbor/landlord.
It turned out that the electrical cord he strung across the roof somehow overloaded and started a fire.
Luckily not much of the roof burned and my car was ok.
It was pretty freaky though and one of the people watching on the street wanted to call the Fire Department (I told her no -- because I didn't want my landlord busted for a code violation).
Just thought I would share.

I was actually thinking more of Passwird's math problem.
I was afraid the fire department would try to draw to bisecting lines to locate my roof that was burning and by the time they solved the problem, my whole house would be burning...

My only question is why are you letting your neighbor run an electrical cord over your roof? What are they doing, using your electricity? Just seems odd to me.

He is my landlord.
He is stringing it between his garage and his house. The carport is just in the middle

I too had plans to quote Bloodhound Gang (minus the stars), but I guess I'll just have to quote some other verse from Fire Water Burn...
"Yeah, I'm hung like planet pluto, hard to see with the naked eye, but if I crashed into Uranus, I would stick it where the sun don't shine. 'Cause I'm kind of like Han Solo, always stroking my own wookie. I'm the root of all that's evil, yeah, but you can call me cookie."

Before BHG got their white trash hands on the phrase, Rockmaster Scott & the Dynamic 3 did it long ago.
