I just recieved a call from a telemarketer at The Seattle Times asking if I would like to subscribe. Thing is... I'm already a subscriber. Are they too lazy to check their database of subscribers before they call?

I don't even get live telemarketers, I get recordings...
This last one asked me to spell my last name, say my first name and my telephone number.
So I did...
"M-Y L-A-S-T N-A-M-E, First Name, telelphone number"
:heh:

It's even more funny when you consider that a hundred other people probably did the same thing and some loser has to sort through it.
um..."say mother may i, and then spell cup"
"mother may i c-u-p"
"hahahaha"
it must be funny to hear an adult do that.
i was doing tech support for some lame-o once. i needed to look up an answer to something, so i asked him to hold on a second. after a second, he's all, "your time is up." i seriously felt like saying "so is yours" and hanging up. but my desire to hold a job got the better of me, so i just faked a laugh.

here's a better one - i used to get a call about three times a year from the Alton Telegraph asking if our paperboy gave us good service. thing is, i was the paperboy. real good record keeping, that.

i just love the ones who ask yuo a question, and if you don't answer in the way they want to hear...they hang up. It just pisses me off...

I used to crinkle cellophane in front of the receiver, now I don't even waste my time; I just hang up after saying Hello.

Do you still live in that area? My mom grew up in Alton, class of *snicker* 1969.
I am going to be in Marissa (south of Belleville) for most of August.
