why has no motherboard manufacturer or oem companies thought of having an on board modem? it would save a pci slot! if they have and i am dumb ass all hell just tell me but i havent seen a mobo yet with an integrated modem, it just sounds fishy they havent, is there any obsticles for them they cant overcome???

actually, i believe that mobo manufacturers to build boards with built in modems. but i have seen some pre built systems with onboard everything. i had a vbox brand (read: el cheapo) with onboard 56k modem and 10/100 ethernet card. but the modem sucked, and i used my usr sportster 28.8 because it was faster and more reliable.

i see said the blind man, but all motherboard stability and speed issues aside wouldnt it be the faster way to go, my new comp has intergrated ethernet and it seems to be a tad faster
