Well, the freaking Bar exam is finally here, beginning on Tuesday. Three days of hell (Six hours of test each day) to cap off my summer of hell (Three months of nothing but studying 12+ hours a day).
So I am scared sh|tless, but at the same time I know I am going to pass this damn thing. I will beat the odds. So this is going to be a bittersweet few days, but I can see the light on the otherside, Thursday night it will all be done. A little R and R in the sun, and then to find a damn job while I wait for my passing grades.

My cousin passed the bar exam on her first try. then she decided to not persue a profession in law. If i remember correctly, she's now a firefighter.

I always tell my clients that not only did I pass the bar, sometimes I stopped in for a little Tequilia!
Then they ask how long I've been a lawyer for and I say "oh, you mean THAT bar... Well, I've never even been to law school." Still, not all of them immediately leave.
Good luck.
Well, for me the bar exam was a blast. It was a fun 3 days of test taking and hashing out the tests afterwards. Your mileage may vary.
My only regret was that I didn't look for jobs BEFORE taking the bar exam. When I got to the career listings after the bar, I missed a bunch of listings between may and july. If I were you, unless you are independently wealthy, I would pound the pavement hard and forget about any R&R--that's what May to July was for.
Good luck

I dont know what state you took the bar in but I have never heard anyone call the bar exam a blast. Every person that I know has been dying all summer long and thus far, no one is happy with the exam. With one day remaining in this grueling mental decathalon I dont think it is going to get any better. From my understanding most of the jobs go on the market well before graduation, and then you just have to go fishing. Plus, a lot of people who had jobs will not keep them when they dont pass the bar, so they are ripe for the picking.

I understand "The Firm" really helps their lawyers pass the bar.
As long as you don't mind their billing practices, they seem to hire their staff for life
Its over, congratulations.
It was a blast, for me. I, as you can guess, am in an extreme minority. Of my class of about 4-500, me and about 3 other friends had fun during bar exam week. You can probably add in everyone else taking the bar into the no fun category.
As far as jobs go, do what you will, I'm just saying is all. My philosophy is simply, why maximize risk? After the bar, I thought, boy I'd like to take a vacation since I know I won't take one for years and years if I don't right now (which has proven true).
But I said no, because I have to get a job. Plus, employers like people who sacrifice fun for practicality. They all know what you did when you go looking after the bar results come out.
If you need to take that trip, go ahead. But DON'T wait til the bar results come out before looking for a job.
