Hey, everyone. I'm going to Hong Kong for a month this summer and I need a international phone card to call home. Anybody know where I can get some for free or got good deals?

Unfortunately , the case in HK is that if you have a GSM 900-1800 phone or a trimode GSM phone (Motorola L phone) that can be used on Pacbell GSM, you can buy prepaid cards in HK for like 12-20 USD. That 12-20 USD gets you like 1000 or so minutes ANYTIME. As in many countries, calling international there is really really cheap...cheaper on the cell phone than on a personal landline in many cases. BTW. In HK (as in other countries), there's no such thing as monthly contracts, they bill by the second, and caller pays!

If you really need, you can use the payphone and use AT&T or Sprint or MCI calling cards. They use local toll free access numbers and have english and or native language voice prompts. It's very easy to use :-)

I guess I need to sign up for an AT&T phonecard , because I'm going to Japan for a few weeks, and maybe HK for a few days during this summer

Umm...I can try. Why don't you e-mail me a list of what you want? (Just click the e-mail icon.) I'm not going until mid-July though.
