I've searched the posts and found that most replies seem to say that when installing a cd-rw it's best to put it on the motherboards IDE channels instead of the ATA100 cards. But if I only have one HDD on the ATA100 and still have the secondary IDE open on the card, wouldn't I see improved speed when copying from the HDD to the CD-RW if I hooked the CD-RW up to the ATA100's secondary IDE as master as opposed to hooking it up to the open primary IDE on the Motherboard?

They won't be on the same channel. I have two channels on the MB and two more on the ata100. I'm currently only using two of them, the primary channel on the ata100 for the HDD and the secondary on the MB for my cdrom. My question is :
will there be any difference if I hook up the Plextor cdrw to it's own channel on the ata100 or the MB?
