Just wondering if there were any free trial offers out there for HBO or Showtime.

Nope, but AT&T is offering free install plus a $200 credit for your satellite dish if you switch to digital cable. Since I see used dishes at garage sales for ~$50 all the time, and digital is only like $12/mo more than expanded analog, it might be worth your while to find a used dish and get one of the digital+premium bundles.

Anyone know if there are descramblers that work on the Scientific Atlanta 8610x w/ Random Inversion as in Rochester, NY ? Thanks.

in my area, berkeley, HBO and showtime are channel 3 and 6. On the cable line going to your house they have inline filters for channels 3 and 6, They are silver looking and like 3in long. so you just take the filters off. I think they are changing the whole system so this probaly wont work much longer.
