For sure don't buy this Gateway, it's a piece of sh*t. I would buy a dell. They have some nice deals right now with free DOUBLE RAM ( http://www.dell.com/us/en/bsd/products/line_notebooks.htm ) when you buy from the small business site.

Keep checking IBMs eBay Store (http://www.ebaystores.com/ibm/plistings/list/all/dept3/index.html) every few days. They have a lot of good deals every few days. These aren't auctions; they're at a fixed price, but in limited quantity.

Actually, we are a 'Gateway shop'...having about 3000 Gateway pc's, servers, laptops. Thats all I do, all day...is mess with networks running on Gateway equipment. The desktop pc's are nicely made with good components, especially for Education/Government, they give us really good deals...they are the Apple of Wintel makers.

However, the last batch of Gateway Laptops we got have been terrible. Board problems, DVD drives that dont work, etc. They have all since been fixed..but they were all bad. The one at Buy is an older model, and we have some similiar to it. They have worked out great, really good machines...and they take a beating where I work. I would suggest it to anyone. I would suggest the new models as well, they seem to have the kinks worked out.

The only problem I see is that Dell often has a better deal for home/soho use. In fact, Dell came around this past spring and we ordered a lot of desktops....Gateway wasn't pleased at all. Maybe we will be getting another enterprise server for free.
