As much as it kills me to say it (because they are a crappy retailer), Best Buy has a GREAT price on Max Payne this week brand new. Only $34.99 (and you can probably catch that as the mouse pad edition)
heck, it's selling on eBay for more than that!!!
Sounds like a deal to me...sorry if it's not exciting enough...

Also, CompUSA B&M in the PA/NJ/DE areas have it for the same.
When I tore the salesgeek away from playing it momentarily, he said that was this week only, and it was an unadvertised special. He also cautioned me that it requires BIG disk space, BIG RAM, and a 3-D card that can eat others for breakfast. But boy does it look sweet.
Needless to say the game simply rocks. Hard as **** though! I'm barely three chapters through, stuck in the nightclub. Great voice acting, incredible gameplay, intense action.
Buy the game, please, for your own sake!

Is there a demo for this game?

No demo, but clips of the action.
The FREE mousepad edition is the one that Best Buy carries for $35 this week.
It requires like 850mb for full install.
I am playing on a Athlon 1.33ghz, 512mb DDR, ASUS GeForce2 64MB Deluxe... and it's still not perfectly smooth, but it still is incredible.

I'm so so very far from a PC expert, but you might have some issues. I can play the game flawlessly, smoothly with my PIII 500 mhz. 320 ram, 3D Prophet 4000 32meg.
No crashing, no slowing down, no hang ups of any kind.
Just curious what kind of stuff happens to you that you'd say, it doesn't play perfectly?

I think it's just that I'm used to playing American McGee's ALICE in high resolution OpenGL, and the style of control that is. I guess I still hafta play Max Payne a bit more to get smoother control of the follow up camera.
I don't have issues :)
I was impressed with Max Payne. When i got it I played for 4 days about 6 hours each day. THe game rocks, but I finished the game already. Max Payne is just too easy, straight up action, thank goodness there's no complex puzzles like Tomb Raider. all you have to do is Quick Save often, like everytime you finish off a group of bad guys, then if you die, reload and do it again, this time you'll know where the enemies are. also I find that it looks like I loaded a couple of bullets in this guy's chest/face area and he's still alive, and he shoots me with a shotgun and i instantly die..(boss stage, end of part 1, i think, i forgot). In conclusion, the game is just straight up pure action fun. However, NO Multiplayer means not much replay value...I already sold my copy.
