Sears has an absolute satisfaction guarantee, it's usually posted on every exterior door. The manager of my local store told me it's company policy that to fullfill the satisfaction guarantee merchandise can be returned for exchange or Refund for 1 year from date of sale. I had bought a Craftsman yard tractor that someone had taken out on a 2 month "product evaluation". The salesman told me it would only have a 6 month warranty on it because it was used. I called the manager to be sure that if something went wrong when I took it out the following season (I bought it in late fall) that it would be covered. That's when he told me about the 1 year retun period, he also updated me to a 3 year service warranty for nothing. I have since returned stuff months after getting it with no problem.
