i currently have Verizon dsl and my connection is on and off. meaning when i click on a web page it will load 60% of the time. the other 40% will take 2-3 mins. i told my friend that and he said that i should get a dsl router. he said it will make my connection more consistent, and will also make my dsl faster. hes not really a networking expert, but you guys are so i just need some input. is this true?? and if so will only a few do this?? i am using WinPoET. Win98se. if you can help out please do so.
thnx

=)
i have verizon, and useD winpoet...
the router will definitely help in the consistency...
winpoet, as all verizon customers know, SUCKS!
using the router's software, you will maintain the connection better...
as for faster...not technically. router is not supposed to make it faster. BUT winpoet does slow the connection, and so, not using winpoet will speed things up =P
Getting a router was especially useful for me because of roomates...
if you don't want to spend the 50 bucks, there's other connection programs....something like RAS. something...
you definitely lose the lag you get from winpoet when you use that program..(just do a google search on ras, and how winpoet sucks, and you'll find a whole bunch of pages).
