What will Blizzard announce at ECTS this year?!

Blizzard has promised some BIG news (and also promised it wasn't StarCraft 2, thank god) for September 2 at ECTS. They've reserved rooms for 2 two hour press conferences, and that is A LOT of time. The Diablo 2 announcement was one hour long, and the Warcraft 3 announcement consisted of 2 separate one hour conferences.

What do you guys think will be announced at this conference? I'm guessing that one of the 2 hour sections will have something to do with the upcoming Blizzard movies. Besides that...who knows?

I'm hoping they're lying about the StarCraft 2 part.

Do you agree that one of the releases is probably going to be either the WarCraft, StarCraft, or Diablo movie? Maybe all three, but more likely...just one, so they can increase hype with another announcement later (or maybe put a trailer for one movie in one of their other movies).

The other options are stuff like:
Starcraft 2
Warcraft 3 Expansion
Diablo 3 or something similar (because remember that with the expansion release...those specialty guys just became free)
and this last one is what i'm hoping for...some sort of first person game in the realms of either Sanctuary, StarCraft, or Azeroth. Blizzard has never attempted an FPS game...and it is just about time.

pulled directly off of the blizzard web page. this is the same way they "announced" Warcraft 3, by posting different pictures everyday up until the actual announcement. I think this is a pretty good methos to increase hype. I know that I'm curious, although this picture does seem to betray some sort of Starcraft theme (probably an FPS).

No new image today, but there are only about 12 hours left before the press conference...i think. I'll have to look up those times and check back online then... I already know a few pages that promised immediate coverage before the announcement was even over.

We don't have to wait any longer! Blizzard messed up and released the info a little bit early by accident.


During a press conference today at the European Computer Trade Show, Blizzard Entertainment unveiled World of Warcraft, a massively multiplayer, online role-playing game set in the rich fiction of Blizzard's Warcraft universe. Featuring bold 3D graphics and deep, immersive gameplay, World of Warcraft will allow thousands of players to adventure together in this epic setting and will provide them with a new, in-depth perspective on familiar lands, former battlefields, and heroes from the legendary universe. In addition, World of Warcraft will introduce new, uncharted territories and foes never before seen by followers of the series.

Who else is looking forward to Blizzard's step onto the MMORPG genre? This could be fun. I was just thinking about running out and buying Anarchy Online with a few friends today (because it sounds like the bugs are being taken care of.
