I dunno if anybody else has had this problem, but I managed to get in on DELL.com deal a few weeks back for 20% off monitors. I bought a 19" Samsung 955DF DynaFlat CRT monitor for $190 (free shipping, no tax) from DELL and still have a $40 rebate from Samsung. Anybody who knows ANYTHING about monitors knows that $150 for a BRAND-NEW (not refurb) Samsung true-flat monitor is an insane deal. Keep in mind this was on 7/25. The idiots told me it would ship a few days later. Well, a week later I get an email saying that they didn't have any in stock and they'd have to back-order. Translation: I'd have to wait until 8/13! I don't know how much DELL is making off of this deal (or even if they're losing money), but this sorta pissed me off, considering a friend of mine later bought the SAME damn monitor on their website a few days later (at the FULL price), and he received it 5 days later. Anyhow, that's not the worse part either. So I'm waiting patiently, and just last night, I get an email saying they can't make the 8/13 deadline either, but rather more like 9/5! SEPTEMBER?! After swearing every cussword I knew at the monitor, I read the email even further and they said I'd have to reply within 2 days or else they would "automatically" cancel the order and refund my money. How nice of them. IF I NEEDED THE MONEY THAT BADLY IN THE FIRST PLACE, I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THE MONITOR. Of course I replied telling them that I still wanted the monitor and gave them a piece of my mind. The bad part, the Samsung rebate ends on 9/30. If they couldn't even make a 3-day ship deadline in JULY, what makes anybody think they can make that deadline either? GRRRRRRRRR...
Friendly advice: avoid DELL like the plague. A MONTH & a HALF to ship a non-discontinued monitor?? I could WALK to the damn Samsung factory, BUILD the thing myself, and WALK back to the DELL plant, and it would STILL be less than a month & a half!
If anybody had this or a similar problem with those 20%-off Dell monitors, let me know at [email protected]
And by the way, the same thing happened to me at uBid, when I managed to win a 19" Sony E400 for $117 + shipping, with $43 worth of coupons and HALF off shipping. The scammers told me they "accidentally" damaged my order and would give me the option of a monitor of "EQUAL OR GREATER VALUE". My choice: a discontinued 19" Dell 1600 refurb monitor. GRRRRR...
