see, she lived there for 3 years after she came back from working in columbia. so, she knows what its like. plus, i want to give her something that she can use now.
i'll knit her a scarf for her birthday or something.

oo, wait, here's an idea, it's a bit labor-intensive...
get on the internet to find out about neat stuff around town, and then buy her a gift certificate to a neat local restaurant, or a bookstore, or something else local that fits her interests... if she hadn't already lived there, i would say definitely buy her a street map, but that may not be appropriate if she is one of those ppl who still knows her way around a town she hasn't seen since she was a child (i hate ppl like that...)

if you're gonna do that, i recommend getting a gift certificate for fire and ice.
one other cool thing- a collage of pictures or a mix tape/cd. i made a mix for a friend of mine going to grad school, called it the music of our friendship and had all sorts of songs that brought back specific memories of stuff we had done. she loved it!

Im serious....but dont give her a normal sweatshirt.
Under HARVARD write "shaping the minds of a generation:" and list all the psychos that went there, the unibomber was one. There were a few others but i forget who they were.

Perhaps from CitySpree :heh:
Anne Stanton, CEO of CitySpree, is always talking about how she is a Harvard MBA and how she won best business plan with the idea for her company.

Actually, an MIT t-shirt would be funnier, especially since MIT is in the same area as Harvard...
(I think it is in Cambridge across the bridge, but I ain't sure...it's been a long time since I was up there.)
MIT and Harvard are both in Cambridge, which is across the bridge from Boston.

get her an Ultra-Vibe 2000.. to keep her warm on those cold winter nights in Boston. Plus being so techie and geeky, she might enjoy it at a gadget level too.. :D
if only it played Mp3s as well...

well, she was going to go to MIT, but then at the last minute she decided she couldn't in her right mind turn down harvard.
so i don't think it would be that funny.
and, she went to a different ivy for undergrad, and he ex boyfriend went to yale. so, the whole funny ivy tee shirt thing isn't really that funny.
but what iwas thinking about giving her is a tee shirt with my picture on it ;)
who wouldn't love that gift??

Oh, and for the non-geek enabled...
That's a woman's baby-tee with the words "You Are Dumb" in ascii binary code dripping down. The darker blue just says "repeating background".

has no one thought of the obvious?
get her a shirt that says, "I'm with stupid"...hmm.."I'm with stoopid"?
You want a more serious, intelligent gift?
Get "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu.
They have business versions of the book too.

I just watched "Art of War" (divx) last night. That movie was...horrible compared to the book. There should be requirements that a good title not go to waste on a crappy movie (and yes, I do know that it was copying a 2k year old text by ST).
