iPAQ 3635 [iPAQ Color + CF Expansion]
$449.99 (PM with BestBuy) -$40 (Staples) -$50 (Compaq Rebate) + $11 (2ndAir)= $370.99 + Tax Deal or Not?
----------
I recently acquired the Black&White Model of iPAQ from Staples too. But I am considering returning it to get the color one.
iPAQ 3135 (b/w): $199.99 -40 (Staples) - 50 (Compaq) = 109.99 + Tax
----------
Anyone with suggestion or comments about the product (color model) or price? Better Deal? This is just my observation.

I'm returning my 3135 from Amazon to get the Casio E-125. The screen on the E-125 is great and it's ability to to recognize more than one button pressed at a time makes it perfect for the gameboy emulator (it works on the 3135 but doesn't look or work so great).
Staples doesn't have it but Office Depot does. Anyone know if OD will pricematch Best Buys price on the E-125 and then let me add the $20 off coupon?
THanks.
I ordered the 3135 from Staples. I thought it was better to get the $40 off then the 32 Meg CF card. Also, Amazon charges $5 for shipping on the CF card, plus I only paid tax on $160 instead of $200, and that saved me another $3. If I would have ordered from Amazon, I would have been paying $48 for a 32 Meg CF card.
But now I'm starting to wonder about the Compact Flash Jacket that comes with the 3135 from Amazon. I thought it was a protective case, but is it a PC-Card to CF adapter?
I wouldn't get the color version: I don't think it's worth the extra $$$. It also shortens the battery life, and you have to recharge these things every day.

Be aware that the Handspring prices were just slashed HARD so maybe more cuts are in the wings

A protective case is included with the ipaq - the CF sleeve allows you to use CF cards in the ipaq. There is a separate PC Card sleeve that allows you to use PC Cards. Unfortunately, it's a lot more expensive than the CF sleeve because the PC card sleeve has a battery built in. This is nice 'cuz PC cards will just suck your batteries dry...
I disagree with you about the color, though - for that low price, get the color one! It's much nicer. Playing video clips or looking at pictures in B&W just doesn't cut it for me...
Thanks Jeff!
Does anyone know if the 3135 from Staples comes with the CF adapter? These things seem to be $50 or so. My Staples order is on hold, so I might cancel it and get it from Amazon.

The 3135 is a package deal from Compaq and it includes the CF sleeve. The 3150 is the same model minus the CF sleeve.
I agree that the color is great... didn't think I would need it at first but color makes a world of difference. Not to mention the 3135 only has 16 megs of ram... sure you can add a CF for more storage space but their are some programs that can't be run from the CF and adding more CF storage doesn't change the amount of applications you can have open at one time. I couln't even up a jpg that was larger than 1024x768 because it would run out of ram decompressing the image. It's too bad that the CF storage can't be used as virtual ram.

Can anyone give me a list of the pieces that came with the ipaq 3135. I bought mine at a staples store, but it happened to be an open box. There was none left so I just took it anyway. I also got suckered into their extended warranty for 20 bucks, but I heard it is worthless in terms of what it covers. Lastly, does anyone know for sure if the $50 rebate on amazon works with a staples purchase, or is it only for amazon? Any thoughts? Please advise.
Mine included
-the PDA of course
-compact flash sleeve
-charger
-connection cable for PC
-a few manuals and software, but I dont seem to have complete user's manual
Am I missing anything?
Thanks

Yes. I believe that is everything.
iPAQ 3135 + CF + Power + USB Cable + Software CD (2) + Manual
You can submit your $50 Compaq Rebate Online. I am not sure what the address is ... but check it out at http://www.compaq.com.

I have the color Ipaq, and I have to say I enjoy it very much. Whether or not color or B&W are better depends on what you plan to use it for. B&W is fine if you only plan to use it as a planner. If you want to do the other cool things like watch movies (or clips), play games, etc. I'd recommend the color. As for is 370 a good price, check out the following -- http://brighthand.com/html/editorials/plunge.html . . .as it mentions at the bottom, new models coming out all the time. (And does anyone know about the $100 off at best buy for the Ipaq?)
BTW, good to see you J!
