If your motherboard will support a 1.4 GHz CPU, this is probably the highest you will be able to get from AMD and have motherboard compatability. AMD will be producing its new chips on a different core, so I have no idea what package they will be (still SocketA? who knows?). 1.4 GHz is the last of the Athlon Thunderbirds.

1.4 GHz is about a 56% increase in speed. Performance wise though, I don't know what chip you are currently running, but if it is a Duron, the extra on-chip L2 cache will make you very happy!

woah...calm down there buddy....shift lock is not meant to be used for your whole message...

anyways, is it worth it?
sure, if you're gonna use it....
and why not wait? cause when the new stuff comes out, you're gonna be asking yourself the same question...there's new technology i can wait for...

it's totally individual decision..
if you need something faster for your use, it's worth it.

umm...
that deal is for a 266 mhz bus t-bird. your mobo doesn't support 266mhz. so it's not worth it unless you upgrade your mobo too.

But you don't get it, I can buy the 200 mhzFSB processor, it's still a deal. I can get it for $150 retail boxed, but the point is in just upgrading processor do you see a large difference in FPS. I noticed with expensive GFX cards, a 1.0 gz and 1.4 gz Tbird dont differ so greatly as a GFX card upgrade would...and i'm at 900 mhz so close to 1.0 gz!

Yeah. It really depends what kind of graphics card you have now. If your graphics card isn't high end, a faster cpu won't help that much b/c the graphics card is the bottleneck.
