My weakest link system (old proc, low memory etc) just had a strange thing happen to it. All the text was replaced by what looks like bar code. When I open the start menu it is normal for a second then it all changes to these vertical lines. All the graphics (icons, scroll bars etc) are fine, it's just the text. It affects all the system fonts.
I have seen this once before. I fixed it on a Win95 system yers ago. I just don't remember how. My current system is Win98se.
No one has access to this system, so I know no one messed with it. It has current virus protection and I don't have e-mail on it or execute any files that are not from a reputable source.
I know the perfect solution is to change to BeOS or Linux, almost as good would be Win2000.
But I think I will stick to Win98se on this system for the moment.
Thanks for any input.
