i submit that world hunger is not so bad. sure, it's no fun to those that experience it. however, given the class structure and all, in order for there to be a rich, there must be a poor. for there to be a smart, there must be a stupid. for there to be an exciting, there must be a boring. for there to be a well-fed, there must be a hungry. it's an unfortunate state of affairs, but we did it to ourselves. er...maybe we did it to them.

if world hunger was so bad, we would get up off our lazy chairs, stop stuffing our faces with chips, and do something about it.

How come it says "Threadid=29375" at the top?

The number of obese people in the world is now finally equal to the number of starving people. And yet we, as Americans, only recognize the "needy" ones. When will we as a society lift the wool from our eyes and realize that rather than focus only on those people without food, we should also educate and assist those who eat far too much? I realize that some people claim to be genetically obese, but sometimes there becomes an environment at home in which parents who are very overweight (and realize such) strive far too hard to prevent their children from becoming obese as well, ultimately forcing the children into eating disorders themselves. I have nothing against overweight people - and nothing against very thin people, but there comes a point when I would like to see friends/government provide some kind of education and assistance. With proper instruction and training, people can learn how to maintain a healthy diet, along with exercise, and lose weight slowly. The weight will not be lost quickly. It will take months and maybe years, but if they maintain proper eating and exercise habits, anything is possible. People need to realize that fat-free does not necessarily mean calorie free. Even so-called "diet" foods, such as diet sodas and candy are full of chemicals and processed ingredients, which are not exactly considered healthy.

is that 5000 threads total or 5000 threads since the last time we changed forums? my suspicion is that we are actually far beyond 5000 with the switch.
