Hey guys, I have a weird problem with my webcam (Samsung Anycam Couple). Almost everything works with it, i.e. video capture, i can see the image, etc. However, there is one problem - it cannot take still images in jpg format??

I'm trying to build a database system using the camera, and for some reason, it works fine when I try to same images in .bmp format, but when i try to save images in .jpg format, it doesn't do anything. In fact, if i have a file, say "test.jpg", and I try to save a still image as "test.jpg", it not only doesn't create the file, but delete's the old "test.jpg".

Any suggestions? I just don't get why I can record video, save .bmp, but cannot save .jpg. Also, of all the programs that came with the camera, all work perfectly except the one that takes still pictures - probably cuz it's trying to save the pictures as jpg's.

Oh lastly, I'm using the Dual Mode USB Camera Plus driver for Win2000.

I don't know if this is related, but whenever I would try to save a pic from a web page, Internet Explorer would give it the BMP extension. It turns out that my temporary internet files cache was full. I cleared the cache, and now the pics are given the correct JPG extension.

Here's the M$ Q article:http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q250/7/47.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=save%20picture%20as&rnk=2&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=IE

Good luck!

thanks for the help - i still haven't gotten it to work, and don't know why (i don't think it's the camera because the software that comes with it doesn't work right, and i did try the win2000 update).

but, i found that i could just grab the picture, then i used something i found on the web to convert it internally to a jpg.

thanks again
