Well, I was gone for a couple months and the perosn living at my house was using my computer. When I got back I realized that everytime I launched Internet Explorer, I get numerous popups from porn sites. I change the starting page to hotmail.com and it still gives me a porn site when I open up a new browser ... Someone told me to use Ad-Aware. I did and it's still happening....

can somebody tell me what to do?

My suggestion would be to delete all of your temporory internet files and all of your cookies.

Use the popup killer (check it out in the Deals section)

It will kill all the boxes and browser spawning (even those that don't want to close)

is the original thread

And as for the cookies, in Win2k, it's in c:\documents and settings\"user"\cookies
"user" being your name.

Just delete everything in the folder. The index won't delete but that is okay.

Dude, keep it in your pants. We don't want to hear about your sex life.

Check Startup in your Start menu and make sure you don't have something running there.

Check the registry, Make sure that there aren't any rogue programs running in the background. A coworker had this happen to him at work. I saved his butt when I killed it. Imagine having porn open randomly on your desktop when you are working, in an open environment. This is the place to look: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
