...on her computer, that is. ;) I'm wondering if any of you have had the same problem. If you did, I'd appreciate the help.
So her dad downloads a program, and when he double clicks the install program it freezes up his machine. After multiple attempts to ctrl-alt-delete the computer, he presses the restart button, never returning to Windows but barely starts the bootup process. Finally he turns the computer power button off then on, and when it starts to boot he gets the old "Non System Disk" error. He does not have a disk in the floppy drive so to me, so it sounds kinda bad.
I'm hoping that the hard drive isn't completely scorched if it turns out to be a virus. I was thinking that if it is a virus perhaps it might be one that messes up the registry or something like that, then I was thinking I might be able to download some program like Norton Antivirus or Disk Doctor or something like that.
Oh yeah I should mention he doesn't have any virus software currently running so it's entirely possible that it is a genuine virus.
My girl wants to see if she can fix it without having to take it out of his house. Any help you guys/gals could give me would be much appreciated.
