Users cannot delete their own posts anymore. At one point we could, but it's no longer an option.

Delete is for those people who have administrative powers. The post will disappear completely, leaving no trace.

yeah, at one point i convinced hapoo that i had admin powers because i was deleting full threads (that i started)...but i was going back and deleting threads that only had his and my posts, so it looked like i was docking him posts...

So I guess that "Changes: Messages can be edited by their author. Messages can be deleted by their author." at the bottom isn't quite right.

The option for a poster to delete their own thread was turned off.

Speaking of deleting posts.. what happened to "trash el dumbass"? I clicked on it and it said i didn't have the ability to view the page, then i reloaded the off topic page and it was gone.

Having that thread up would allow for more bad feelings. So it was moved elsewhere. El Scorcho will be behaving better.

how many problems has El Scrocho created?

So why were they turned off? What was the point of that? And if they were turned off why don't you take that option off?
The different options were considered and this was the best one.
Having that option on would allow trolls to delete the threads that show their bad behaviour.
If anyone wants a thread to be deleted all they need to is email me and it'll be taken care of.

this was discussed in another thread... i think prominx's "why did my total drop?"
one possible abuse: post a worthless thread. like "." your post count goes up by one. delete it, so nobody gets pissed at you. repeat ad infinitum and call yourself "mini-hapoo."
So exactly what do we call El Scorching Drunko Monkey these days? P. Drunky? TAFKAES?

I thought if you delete a post though your count will go down? Wasn't that what Pro was talking about when he was fooling with hapoo?
On a side note, another thing I never understood is why people are so obsessed with total post counts? I mean do you get special privledges if you reach a certain count? If I don't post every minute does that mean that I'm not as avid a G|A fan as someone else who has a higher count? I read the website all the time and click on banners to help generate revenue. Doesn't that make me a true fan?

keeping track is one more useless way to pass the time. ranks are fun. figgerin out how many total minutes of your life you have wasted here, or your average number of posts per day, is fun. it's not a huge deal, so don't go poopin on something that most of us (whether we care to admit it or not) find amusing. did anyone ever make fun of you for having a lower total? i don't think so... so why so defensive of your "true fan" status, which was never in question?

no no no...you took it wrong...I'm not poopin on it. I'm just wondering. It doesn't really matter to me one way or another. I just wanted to know how people felt about it. I'm with you man even though I may never reach hapoo status. Actually, for that matter I'm not sure anyone would ever reach that level.
you can hug me anyway though. Just keep your hands off my arse :P
