all cell phones in metropolitian areas blow.

i wish they would all blow up, and then i wouldn't have to get so pissed about paying for a service taht doesn't work!

Have you taken your phone in for an update of the programs? I called Sprint and bitched about the crappy service here in San Diego and all the dropped calls. They told me to take it in to get it reprogrammed and they credited me for all the dropped calls plus some. Just an idea.

I have the same problem. Do you have the Samsung 3500? Sucker drops PCS calls all the time.

omg, i was on the phone with them for no joke, 2 hours last night.

the first time i call on a land line, and they try to transfer me and i get disconnected. the next time i call on my cell, and what do you know, SIGNAL FADED. then, i finally call again on a landline, and they are TOTAL PRICKS. they won't credit me a DIME!
the ass i was talking to first wouldn't help me, so thne i asked to speak with a supervisor. who was the biggest jerk i think i've ever had the opportuntity to deal with.
they said they don't credit for dropped calls, and that i should call back and speak with someone else, becasue he's not going to give me anything. so i asked him if $10 or $15 was worth losing a customer over, and he said YES! so according to him, Sprint would rather not give a $15 credit, and lose customer. that is what they prefer to do. $15 is more important then a long time customer! isn't that dandy??

i hate cell phones :smash:

and yes, i have a samsung 3500

Sorry to hear of your troubles Styleee...if I still worked in c/s for S-PCS I would have given you lots of credits. I used to hate the advocates who always had to be hard-a$$ed. If you remeber who you spoke too and called back and complained about them you may get better results. Good luck to you. Kim

That sucks! As I said I had a totally different experience when I called. Personally I have a SCH8500 but its just the higher samsung version. When I used to sell them, the samsungs actually had better reliability than the motorolas and qualcomms, who knows. I would try again, there is little chance that you will get the same jerks again. Good luck.

Man, that sucks...but that's why I would never go back to Sprint PCS....they absolutely scared the living daylights out of me with their poorly burdened customer service and low tower density and coverage.

On the other hand, they have the Sanyo 5000 and 6000 phones, which are japanese style...

Bad news is, is that the phones are about 30 bucks and free in japan. They cost 500 and 300 here..

wow, talk about bad experiences.
Well, when I first got mine, I had a horrible time with them. I got almost no reception and I went in and complained. (As in going into their store) They told me that the area I lived indeed had poor coverage, so they offered to refund me the full amount for the service and phone. But I ended up keeping the phone and moved by the beach and the reception STILL sucked, well, its been about 1 year now and guess what? They put up new towers and my reception got better. :) I have a Startac by the way. So right now, I'm actually quite satisfied. I know that some phones have different receptions. Like when I'm at home, my roomie has full reception while I have only 1 bar. And sometimes its the other way around...So it all depends on the phone.

My company is doing the site work for pretty much all of the Sprint towers on the Cape. One of my bosses went with his wife to get a cell phone. They asked the sprint representative questions about reception on the cape. The guy went on and on about all the towers and how great reception is. He even mentioned the location of a few of the towers. Thats when they realized the guy was completely full of crap- the towers he was talking about don't even exist yet! Granted, it may not be his fault, but it was still damn funny knowing that the towers weren't built and Sprint was guaranteeing such great service from them

I've had varying milage with sprint cs's and sprint reception...

cs's, sometimes, it's real quick, they know what they're doing, and I get good service...other times, well, yeah...it's like your situation :(....

with reception....I've always had poor poor reception in pittsburgh, but now i'm in baltimore, and it's GREAT!!!

also, got my parents hooked up in Jersey, and at first they had no reception at my dad's store..
I called and complained many times, and they actually put up new towers in my dad's neighborhood (NW jersey)...I'm not saying it's b/c of me or anything, but thought that was cool :)

i don't think i've ever got reception in NW jersey. or if i do, i'm roaming. but then again, i stopped checking to see if my phone worked there after about 5 times of it not working. plus everyone that i know that lives there says sprint is the worst in that area.

but who knows, maybe it's better now.

& like i said, i hate all cell companies, i don't know anyone who is even 85% satisfied with their carrier

its like choosing the lesser of all evils... and btw, i don't have a landline phone, so yes, i do need something other than a computer to get in touch w/ others

If you have the cash, I've heard good things about ATT. (Fairly good coverage) Seriously though, if you are living in some remote area, coverage isn't meant to be any good. What I love about sprint is the fact that long distance calls are included in the plan. I use my phone like a home phone and I call almost everyone I know with it. Most of my friends are from out of state so it kind of made more sense to me.

I've heard of a lot of problems with Sprint. Their reps have no idea what they're talking about.

If you want good reception in the NYC area, definitely get Verizon (or MCI, which uses Verizon's network). Verizon even has antennas in the subway tunnels so you'll get coverage everywhere. I've had Verizon since march and I haven't had any problems yet.

Btw, if you need a phone, I know someone who is a dealer who can probably give you a pretty good price.
