I'm pretty new at this game. I played the original on battlenet, but I got so sick of PKs. It was cheat or be cheated. It ruined the experience.
I'd love to game with fellow Apexers on Battlenet, but the idea of PKs still bothers me. Aside from using a passworded game, how do you avoid these jackasses? What strategies do they use?
Side note: I have no problem with dueling. In fact, I've got a character build that I'd like to duel with once I've hit level 40 or so. It's those "ruin the game for everyone else" f*cks that piss me off.

i hate PKs too. but i will still go into a game and just mess around with people's minds if I'm with a friend (usually just starting a fake fight between the two of us while everyone watches on or accusing one of the other randomly selected chars of ripping us off in a trade and demanding to trade back and have the other friend back us up).
Once my friend and I came into a game as if we were mid-argument because (not in reality) I got his little 15 yr-old sister drunk and slept with her. We were trading allegations and excuses, and almost everyone in the game went hostile on me. It was so great. I had the whole room telling me how sick and perverted I was, but I was the highest char level in the game (playing with my weredruid), so people would say something and then try to kill me for my friend's sake...and there would be fields of ears around where my char stood and people were planning different strats. It was so funny and my friend and I banked about 200K from those fights...
I don't ever just go into a game and go hostile. I'll only initiate hostility if someone floods the chat trying to be obnoxious or if someone does the party invite/cancel deal repeatedly.
Just be ready to avoid them. Have that Town Portal spell in a hot key just in case.
