Jenny, I don't think the season starts for awhile, so now you can just think about what players you want... Wait a minute, I just read thru that E-mail, and is says we have an auto-pick draft. Does that mean we don't get to pick the players we want?

That's what I was confused about. :)

I think autodraft means that we have to all get online at some point in the day Saturday, and it'll give you a certain amount of time before automatically assigning you the highest "rated" player available. At least, that's what I like the pretend with my artificial friends and what have you.

Honestly, I just made the above up, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's what it was.

All - I haven't had time yet to go over the instructions - we can take this to the league message board when I have a little more time.

Basically, the way the draft works is that you pre-rank the players based on the order you want. Go to "My Team", "Edit Pre-rankings". You do not need to be online for the draft - the computer will do it automatically. Yahoo will go team by team and assign the highest ranked player on your list that has not already been selected. This repeats for 15 rounds. When the automatic draft is over you can see the team picked. When everyone is done pre-ranking players let me know and I'll tell Yahoo to run the draft.

We had a girl in my league last year that didn't know what she was doing. She ended up with Kurt Warner, Randy Moss, etc... and ended up kickin all of our guys ( | ) thru the season!

Are we able to change how certain stats are scored? For example, could we put an emphasis on defense if we wanted?

No - it's an autopick draft. All it means is that once everyone has their pre-rankings done I'll tell Yahoo to conduct the draft. It can take anywhere from 4-72 hours before yahoo is done. The computer will select the team for you by taking the highest player on your list that is still available for each of the 15 rounds.

For your scoring question - yes, there is the ability to change the scoring rules, but I like to keep them at the Yahoo default - it emphasizes offence, but you can also score a lot of points if you have a stud defence (aka Ravens). I believe the defense gets 1pt for a sack, 2pts for an INT, and 6pts for each defensive TD scored. (Hint: dont draft the Vikings defense! :tongue:

Even if you don't know anything about football, you can still partake in the fun! Who knows, maybe you will actually learn something about football and become a big fan in the process! ;)

P.S. This is my first fantasy league and I haven't followed football in a few years (well, since the Browns left Cleveland), so I am a little rusty on my knowledge of players. I think McNabb is a great QB because he's not afraid to scramble and get the rushing TDs himself, which actually might end up haunting me if he gets hurt in the process. Hopefully Marshall Faulk can stay healthy this season. My WRs are a little on the weak side because I thought we only got one of those in the draft (not two), so I got screwed there. Oh well...

Ummm, like I said before... :D Thanks to my buddy topane, I picked a lot of my guys cause they sound cute. ;) But, I've had 2 guys tell me that my something or other is great. heheheh (Oh geez, I'm sounding extremely female right now, aren't I? Hmmm...Let me think of the thing they said. Give me a minute to look: okay, being 1:25 AM and having been on the road for an almost solid 8 hours, my mind isn't thinking clearly. But I think it was my Wide Receievers. Either them or my RB's - Running Backs? :))

1 year wonder? He put up 9 tds last year and 12 the year before. As far as a running game I also have C. Martin and L. Tomlinson. Ron Dayne showed up to camp in great shape this year. I'm not worried about my team at all.

However, I think you will have a nice battle brewing with Mr. Coleslaw to see who get's last place!:laugh:

Just a note - we're back in business this weekend. Nice to have a diversion from all the crap thats been going on...

Guys don't forget to check your rosters, several teams have bye weeks this week (New Orleans, Tampa Bay, etc..)
