I really appreciate all the help you've all given for formatting and file systems and all of that. The reason I did that was because I wanted to put Windows 98 on here, so I could run my ATI TV Wonder VE card. (Wasn't running in 2000, but it supports 98).

Some background info: this ATI is my second TV tuner. The first one, Hauppauge! WinTV GO worked in Windows ME on my old Athlon 600mhz, 128ram, ASUS K7V133 mobo, voodoo3, and onboard sound. When I put it in my new box, every time it would be about to load it, my whole computer would freeze. Not cool. After a bunch of reset button hits, I sold it to my friend who had windows98 and a Voodoo5.

I bought the ATI card later because it was cheaper and I still wanted a TV tuner.

Installation of ATI software was fine. But when I ran the TV program, it froze! I thought "NOOOOOOOOOO!"

So what do you think my curse is? Is it the audio? Or what? Have you ever seen anything like this? I really can't figure this one out.

My specs:
-AMD Athlon 1.33ghz
-ASUS A7A266 motherboard
-512mb pc2100 crucial ram
-ASUS GeForce2 64mb DDR Deluxe (V-7700)
-Sound Blaster Live! 5.1

Thanks greatly in advance

It does the samething everytime you try to run it?

(That is pretty fuqed up that it doesn't run in Win2k, seeing as it is a fairly new card. I have a Voodoo3 3500 TV running perfect in my second system. That is my media center. It is my TV, my DVD player, my CD-burner, and storage. :) The 3d on that card has never worked good. It will stall after like 10 minutes in any 3d game. It is not overclcked and I have 2 fans and ramsinks on that bitch. The fan and ramsinks I took off of my GeForce2 [put blorb and blue ramsinks on my GF2] and I also have a fan blowing away from the other side of the board where the back of the chip is.)

when you say it froze, do you mean the TV picture froze or the whole comp locked up?

Make sure that you have the very latest drivers for your card. I have a WinTV GO card and the noise would always make a static pop whenever I changed the channel. Also, it would just randomly freeze my computer on me. The audio would still be coming through sometimes, but everything else locked up. I knew that it was because Hauppauge had not optimized the drivers for ME yet, so I just had to grin and bear it. Finally a few weeks ago, they updated the drivers and I have not had a single problem since! No popping sounds, no lock-ups!

I have a VE and its working fine on W2K.

does the cable that connect to the video card have a ferrite cirlce thing a ma jig for canceling out interference?
That might help...

How exactly do you mess with the IRQ's? I've tried different PCI slots, but haven't touched IRQ's. I have a feeling that might help.

Oh, and the WHOLE system crashes

How about disabling Plug and Play? Believe me. I am no expert about these things, but what little I know is that plug and play will automatically find the IRQ it desires every time you boot up? Is that correct?
