Okay, if you order this APC back-up before sunday (9/2/01) it cost 98.99.

http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Browse/SKU.asp?BCFlag=False&PageType=1&SKU=353658

Order this online if you don't have a coupon for printout. You still get free shipping. Add something to the cart to make it at least $100. Use a coupon code like 58612 ($20 off $100) to bring it down to like 80. This APC will go down to $59 on sunday. Price match it on that day and mail in the $50 rebate.

To sum it up
$100
-20 (Coupon code 5812)
-41 (Price match with Staples against Staples)
-50 (MIR for the APC back-up)

11 bucks in your pockets. Good Luck!!!

How do you know that the price will drop?

Id settle for a $9 APC. However, paying $30 if the price doesnt drop is less appealing - I'll wait.

Well, if the price doesn't drop I'll just take it back to the local Staples, no biggie :)

How sure are you that the price will drop?
And why do you think so?

I did the price match Staples against Staples from last time and it works. Maybe I'm lucky? However some CSR might not do it because of the coupon requirement.

Buy it for $98.99 now before it's out of stock using the coupon and adding something to bring your total over $100. using Amex Blue card. Do the rebate and if Staples won't give you the difference back, Amex will.

I just ran over there and it was already on display for 59 with a 50 mail in. Don't make any money this way, but 10 is still pretty cheap. I think I'll keep it.

This is where I found the price drop at and other ones also.
To sweeten the deal add something else on like the xerox multi functional printer/scanner/copier to it for $139 right now. It will also drop to I think around $99.98 Add a $40 off $200 if your too lazy to look for a cheap add on and you need a printer.

Use 10 off 40 and it is pretty much free. I've been looking for something for my $40 gift check.

just a word of warning, CSRs are now trained to let you know that if they price adjust after a price drop, coupon will no longer be valid if it falls below the coupon minimum.......one way out is to be prepared to purchase other items to cover the price difference.

are these B&M csr's or online.

Just to confirm what Partical Man said.... I too saw it at staple B&M today for $59. Unfortunately, it has no software for automated shutdown and no modem protection, so it's a pretty basic unit. It does have two outlets that are battery backed up tho'. Still,, $9 is well spent to keep from crashing when the power goes out.

OK, just bought at the B&M for 59. Used the $10 off $40 B&M printable coupon (found @ FW) to bring the price down to $50. Used my $40 Gift Check from the HP 215 camera deal a month ago to get the price down to $10 out of pocket now. Then I get my $50 rebate. I just checked the rebate center and purchases today qualify.

The rebate is in the form of ANOTHER Staples gift check. Ugh! Now I'll have to find ANOTHER free thing at Staples to spend the $50 on. :D

One comment: Yes it is only a 300VA UPS... but I got it FOR FREE. And according to the box, there is a serial DB9 port on the UPS to provide "an automatic, safe system shutdown." Don't know if the software is in the box... just a sec... Nope.

I see nothing indicating the rebate is another Staples Gift Check. It clearly states $50 Rebate check:

Promotion: APC BACK-UPS 300VA UPS Model #BK300C $50 Mail-in Rebate
Rebate Reward: $50.00 Rebate Check

This is a regular rebate in the form of $50 cash (after cashing your check that is)

You are right. It says "rebate check". I read it wrong before. Cool, I get my $50 back in my pocket!!

Out of stock on-line? The B&M in Holland MI had about 20 of them in stock as of last night. Thanks to whoever posted above that they already lowered the price on Friday in the B&M!

I attempted to order the APC Backup into 60618. It is out of stock and the sale is "subject to stock on hand." Nice try; too bad.

Does anyone have a printable coupon for Staples B&M?

I just ordered mine and used that $15 off $60 coupon. $59.99+0.17 paperclips = $60.16 - $15 coupon - $50 MIR + $4.81 tax = $-0.03.

Made 3 cents, woohoo :)

If you use the 15 off 60 coupon, will Staples still honor the rebate, because the rebate mentions that it is not valid in conjunction with any other offer? My local B&M store has them in stock.

My father had to get in on this after I did. We both purchased them on the website Friday, for $98.99. Used the $20 instant coupon, bringing us to $80. He received his yesterday (where's mine!?!?!), called the 800 number on staples.com, and was told that his credit card statement will reflect the $40 pricematch. How cool is that... :)

So we're well on the way to getting paid $10 to take an APC UPS. Gotta love that. Thanks, Spanky.

Well I called to pricematch and the first representative that answered told me that she would have to get a faxed copy of the webpage with the new price and that my coupon would not be vaild. I took the info down (fax number and name) to be nice. I called back about 30 minutes later and spoke to someone else. This guy looked at my order number and said there would be no problem pricematching. He then typed for a few minutes and told me $41.00 would be taken off of my credit card. Thanks for the deal.

Ah, the worries of the virgin deal finders, gotta love it :). Every Staples coupon I've used says the same thing about not being used in conjunction with any other offer, rebate, etc., and they work fine. I believe those terms are referring to other mail-in rebates and discounts for that particular item, not general coupon codes, which is why it works.

That's not on the staples coupons on the deals page... I was just denied the 20 off 100 since PM'ing put it under the required amount.

Edit - Found it in the forums. Coupon Code 53993.

I bought it with other (free after rebate :) ) items to get just over $150 and used $30 off $150. Twice when I called for price adjustment I was told that they will be happy to adjust the price difference but it will put my purchase below $150 and they would have to remove the $30 coupon. I probably could have replaced the coupon with $20 off $100 and still come out OK but I decided to try BM first.

As I hoped BM Staples gave me the pricematch credit back to my credit card without any questions or comments about the $30 off on my Staples.com receipt.

I doubt their billing is smart enough to find out what I did and remove the $30 automatically. I will check my credit card statement for any $30 charges :)

Thank you for the deal. I did not get the goods and cash back - I spent the difference for an item which I always wanted and have always been to cheap to spend money on.

Good Luck getting a rebate involving Staples and APC. I am still waiting for mine. Should have arrived 6 weeks ago at the latest according to their "allow 8 weeks."

Back in May I got another one of these UPSs from staples and used the same $40 MIR you're talking about. It took a little longer than the other rebates I've sent in (I believe it was like 10 weeks), but it did come. I've sent in a ton of Staples rebates and I've got each one, so I wouldn't worry about it. You can always call and ask what's up, maybe they screwed up.
