(Ghetto is an oft-used adjective in my life... :P )

this was really, really good... everyone raved, i told them what i did it only after they had eaten.

in case you can't tell, this also served to empty my fridge of a packet-buildup.

the recipe:

1 bag frozen veggies
4 chicken breasts, diced
30 packets sweet n sour sauce from "china express"
2 packets sweet n sour mcnugget dip from "mickey d's"
4 packets chopped onions from the swedish restaurant at IKEA
4 packets ketchup from god knows where, but it wasn't "mickey d's"
8 packets soy sauce from "china express"
2 tbsp fish sauce
6 cloves garlic

serve over rice

it was REALLY good.

mmmmmm, that does sound good :)

and I think the 6 cloves of Garlic really made it what it was (HUGE garlic fan :))

yup. i know slang differs from place to place, but ghetto means cheap/broke-a$$ around here. like my kid's ghetto-stroller (duct taped) and ghetto-cookies (leftover pie crust with butter cinnamon n sugar) and my ghetto-walkman (duct-taped) and my ghetto-computer (duct-taped.)

hmm... maybe ghetto just means "duct-taped." cept i think i'd have a hard time putting duct tape in my stir fry or my cookies...

yea that would be my guess, and if you think about it you can make it even more ghetto if you have your own chickens

i wouldnt really call that ghetto...the ketchup? i would call that confused. it may be stirred. it may be fried. but that ain't no stir-fry

and i'm fully with darkfury on the livestock thing. ghetto and livestock? that is when the ghetto is full of rednecks. t'aint happenin

well, i am about as redneck as ghetto gets... so maybe "confused" is appropriate. you sayin only black people can be ghetto? :hmm: is that what you're trying to tell me?!?!? HUH?!?!?! :P

AND in defense of my ketchup... i have an actual chinese cookbook written by an actual chinese woman who owns a chinese restaurant... and several of her sauce recipes call for a bit of ketchup, just to add color and little tang. i'm not crazy!!!!

hmm... so what is the deal? is ghetto an offensive term? is it supposed to not refer to white people? (i'm hoping that i haven't stuck my foot in my mouth here, like i once did with the term "candy a$$," which i thought meant to act wussy... 'parently it is a derrogatory term for gay men... doh.) one thing you can't accuse me of is being up-to-date on slang... i don't know what you mean by triflin, for example, i only know that it is defined as something that wastes time, or as something of little importance, or a dessert... and none of those make any sense in the context in which you used it...

okay, i'm pathetic. nevermind, i won't ask you to give me a complete lesson in modern slang... i'm just gonna go sit in the corner and lsiten to barry manilow lps... :D

this was more off-brand than mcd's and i have no idea where it came from... maybe some "fish sandwich" trailer by the side of the mississippi... don't really know how old it was, either...

but it was good! i swear!

I hate cooking with frozen veggies because they always add extra moisture to the dish. Maybe that's just my fault for letting the ice build up... :hmm:

I should probably let them thaw out first, but who has that kind of time? Microwaving them destroys the vitamins, so I'm left using my rice cooker to steam them.

i put them in a basin w/water (warm or rm temp). they thaw pretty quickly. discard the water and ready to cook w/them

no, non-black people are in ghetto neighborhoods, too. in fact, i have seen white people in ghetto neighborhoods....but they don't act so much like rednecks....cuz of, well...they are surrounded by people that could maul their arses. "redneck" around here tends to mean the person is somewhat racist.

it may now be a while before i eat stir fry knowing that it may contain ketchup :| . i am disillusioned.
