You just might want to pay for this service

After reading an article in InfoWorld, I investigated this new (to me) service called Emailias.com. Try it for 60 days free. If it works as promised, I think $20/year would be a bargain. From their web site:


Unlimited number of unique disposable email aliases (Emailias) which you can provide with a single click for any web site.

Clearly identify any parties who provide your address to others without your permission.
Easily control how you permanently "unsubscribe" from any mailing list or sender (and all of their "partners")

SneakEmail.com (http://sneakemail.com) has the same service for free. Granted, I don't think it is as extensive, but the concept is the same and works well.

Same service (disposible/trackable email addresses) but doesn't cost anything.

Basically you get a disposible email address like [email protected] and it forwards to your regular email address. You then note who you gave this email address to (mailing list, freebie offer, etc.) and then as soon as you start getting spam you know who sold your name/email address to someone else and you can immediately terminate it. Provides a degree of confidentiality and convenience in getting your email off mailing lists.

OR...you could just get a linux box and setup aliases on it for freebies and spam and then just delete the aliase when you don't want the mail anymore. ;)

Or aliases that point to a single hotmail account, which is how I got a bunch of free domains when domainzero.com was still giving them away.
