I was talking to a friend of mine the other evening on the phone and he was bragging about his latest purchase... a $250 toaster!!
This guy lives in an apartment, is married, is trying to save for a house and he buys a $250 toaster
He explained that it's made in Britain, is large enough for bagels and has a lifetime warranty and usually retails for $400. I gently told him he was out of his %$##** mind! This friend of mine never buys anything unless it's on sale. Well, it was on sale at a very fancy store.
It just so happens that I get an Email from Ourhouse.com and they have one of those toasters on sale for around $225. I am truly amazed that a toaster would cost that much and secondly, that an individual consumer, not a business, would actually buy one.

Hmmm, I wonder if $250 toast tastes better than $15 toast??:kaching:

dualit, i'll bet. if it has room for 4 slices and the sandwich basket, it is $400. i sold dozens at williams sonoma. they look neat, and the price tag gives you an illuision of exclusivity, but check consumer's reports - the best toaster costs $70, and the second best it $30. i bought the second best. it's wonderful.

It makes toast taste about 200 dollars better.

It is yet more proof that the human race should be extinct.

There are only so many ways to heat bread. Anyone who pays $250 for a toaster deserves exactly what he got, screwed.

Did you know there are some toasters that can connect to the internet?

I suppose there has to be. Somewhere someone will be bored enough to do anything.
