I think it's only $10 per referral and you would recieve 2 or 3 checks by mail to give to your friends offering them $25 for signing up. If they open an account with your referral checks, you get $10 bucks a head.

This bank is great...I've been using them for about 4 months now and the interest rates have stayed somewhat steady...you can refer people by clicking on the banner on the my accounts page...you then have to send e-mails to the people you want to refer...up to 25 e-mails can be sent so use them wisely...I suggest this savings account to everyone...very easy to use and the interest is great. :) :)

My $50 account bonus is not showing up.

It says something about confirming the account after they deposit two sums of less than $1.

Do I have to do this before the $50 shows up?

Thanks for your help.

ING Direct is great! I loved it! :D

Yes, what they do is deposit 2 small amounts into the checking acct. number you put in, both under $1.00 (mine were like $0.78 & $0.34 or something). When you see those appear in your checking account, write down the date they came in and the 2 exact amounts. Once you know those 2 amounts, log into your account and select the Link Confirmation tab. :)

I've tried to send referal e-mails to many friends but no one seems to be receiving them. Anyone else having this problem?

Anybody know how safe this is? I just signed up ans transferred $1 into the account 5000% growth in a couple of days isn't bad. 4.4% APR is pretty good too though. I was thinking of moving a few grand over to the account instead of keeping my 2.2% APR checking account full. Anyone know how safe that would be?

Haven't a single problem yet. :)

I've been using it for as long as it has been since the last time this deal came up. Oh, quite awhile back. :) Have yet to have a problem.

I opened up an account with ING through a G|A link I think, a while back when it was a $25 sign-on fee. This can of worms I am about to show you is mine alone... I work for ING... but NOT the banking side. So.. what that means for me, is I have direct deposit into this account and my money is growing like mad thanks to the high interest rate. So far so good. However, and silly me for not questioning it or taking action on it, I have given some of my friends the sign-up check and they got their $25 but I have yet to see any of my $10 referral fees. Maybe because the check that they give you does not have your account number on it but a space for the referrers name... maybe I should call them? I would hate to ask these people for their account number to fight it (there were 3 people so it would be $30) but its such PERSONAL information to ask from someone... then again, I did get them $25! Then again, they all work for ING as well and this deal was posted for all employees like 2 months after I signed up (since we just got officially bought out the 1st of the year and all of our new "benefits" of being employeed by this company were not all at once disclosed).

Twiggy,

These accounts are FDIC insured. That means if the bank went bankrupt, the federal government would make sure you got your money back, up to $10K per account (I think). So it is just as safe as any other bank.

I believe FDIC insurance covers depositors up to $100K, not $10K. Not that I have to worry about that!

Don't forget to fill in your account information on the back of the referral checks when you give them to people or ING will never credit your account the $10.00.
