Jurassic 5 is the bomb. I first heard of them when playing Grind Obsession for the PS1. Their song "Jayou" is one of the best jams I have heard in a while. If you don't like rap, atleast listen to that song and then see what you think.
Stonedwheat, you have good taste. Ozomatli is the shiznit too!

Jurassic 5 also has a song in Jet Grind Radio... the lead rapper has a very unique sounding voice..

bow down to the great new music prognosticator...
naaah, i'm joking man, i get the same way...i've hung out with and seen some pretty big bands now, back when they were 'punk to the core' and it bugs the hell out of me that everyone digs them now.
i guess everyone wants 'their' band...the one that they 'discovered.' and then once other people discover the band..it's time to get defensive and say 'i liked them before they were cool'
wonder why people (myself included) get that way...i mean, to my friends, i discovered the gorillaz...saw them on BBC and ordered their cd in march from amazon.co.uk...months before it hit the US shelves....

my thing really, when i find new music i like is to let my friends get a taste of it. and then of course they blow up, and everybody's like, get their FIRST album...NO, they've had like 3 out already, get some of those.
i like finding new good music, it doesn't mean much to brag about it...but there's nothing all that bad with making it to trl

yeah i actually had someone insist that stankonia is outkast's first album...he was like "yeah that new group, outkast is damn cool..." to which i replied "umm, man...i have all of their albums...i had Southernplayalisticadillacmuzic in high school..."
i actually had to sit the guy down and show him their discography on cdnow until he believed me.
people are strange...i guess the guy i was talking to wanted to be outkast's discoverer or something, and couldn't handle the fact that i knew about them when i was 17...

BTW, I had Southernplayalisticadillacmuzic too... I especially liked that deep bass line after the "plane lands" in Atlanta.
fury, the sad thing is, the dude was as old as i am...24.
as for that album...it's amazing, and i'd suggest that any one reading this, who likes outkast...to pick it up ASAP. hell if you don't like outkast, grab it...
some really good live bass action...i love it when rap groups abandon the fake beats and samples and go for live instruments...
don't get me wrong though...there's nothing like a talented dj ripping it up...i just like the presence of live instruments...
