Earthquakes don't faze me anymore. I've been through two 7+ quakes. I call anything less than that "cute".

Oh, I was in Moorpark by the way, a good 30-40 minutes away I'd say. Is that too far for the earthquake to be felt?

California is like Dante's sixth ring of hell. Between the forest fires, earthquakes, mudslides and Santa Ana Winds-you are basically screwed if ya live there. I'll stick with the east coast-thanks,all we have is sharks (and I don't mean hilary)
I've been hearing it was in Beverly hills and was around a 4.0...
BH is like 3 or 4 miles from house, so i definently felt it..
I had friends IM'ing me from the Valley tripping out about it..
And the east coast doesn't that have like hurricanes and like the white stuff from the heavesn all the time...?

Monitor shook for awhile but then it was all good. It shook for longer than 10 seconds here. Maybe the aftershock's waves hit at nearly the same time for me. Bah, that was nothing though. I still remember the time I had with the crappy Landers-Big Bear quake. Bookshelves had to be pushed back and junk all over the floor.

Haahaa...same here. The truth is, earthquakes aren't as big of a deal as people in other states make it out to be. I'd rather have something unpredictable rather than something more predicatable and constant (hurricanes, tornados, blizzards)

I like earthquakes because...
1) It has that nice massaging effect.
2) It rearranges my furniture for me.
3) It can set off a whole bunch of car alarms.

Forest fires = if you have forests, you'll have fires. All across the USA, it doesn't matter where you live.
Earthquakes = They're no big deal. They are the least harmful natural disaster. One huge advantage is that a good one can scare hundreds of East Coasters right out of the state.
Mudslides = I don't drink but people who do tell me that this is a great Kaluha beverage. You want the disaster kind and you have to go to Mississipi or one of those other states along the river of the same name. It's not a real problem in California.
Santa Ana Winds = What are you talking about??? This isn't anything bad. It just is. I remember going out as a kid to play in them. We would see how far we could lean over without falling. Fog is worse. If you call fog a disaster, you might need to re-prioritize a little.
All in all one word describes all the terible disasters that occur in Cali... mild.
But please don't take my word for it, stay on the east coast.

Mudslides get lots of media attention thanks to the scads of celebrity cliffside dwellings. Get a house on solid land, you dimwits, and keep our state outta the news.
