and some things to remember about the people that are celebrating in the streets over these attacks:

they live in places where the govt controls the media - they may believe that americans eat babies and plot the destruction of their country. (they may not even know what really happened, or they may believe that it was a direct retaliation for some atrocity committed by america.)

those living in this country, like the people celebrating in detroit... not real cool, but who knows what they believe about america? they hear stuff from the media in their home country, they hear something totally different from the american media, they don't know what to believe. and again, that is just a very small number of people.

it is not unknown for totalitarian governments to bribe or threaten people into "celebrating" to look good for the camera. and a day off of work is a day off of work.

hating a "group" who hates your "group" doesn't improve the world. hate the people who committed the crime, hate the ignorance that caused them to hate you, hate certain things about a culture, but don't hate a whole ethnicity, country or religion full of individuals. (or if you do, just keep your mouth shut about it and don't try to justify your hatred - you aren't going to change any minds anyway.)

Save your anger for those who really did this.

They showed one palestinian laughing and say "it should be more!" meaning more american deaths, while lots more are rejoicing in the streets. :angry:
These people are taught from childhood to hate americans and israelis, and are made to think killing is not a bad thing.
I am not sure if this is true, but my mother's friend said that Palestinian men believe if they matyr themselves they will go to heaven and be rewarded with 40 virgins. And one time, I saw a documentary on tv of palestinians impaling themselves. Yikes.
I would say one of the Palestinian groups is responsible for this.

Well i'm Russian, and they are really pissed. Putin came on and said that whoever did this will suffere severe consequences. And if it is Afghanistan or Palestine then they are fu*ked. Russia will support US in anything they do and have offered to send rescue workers to help the US

ok...this is what i heard from an online buddy from brazil:

she told me that the US "deserved" what happened in the attack. this is because of our "attack" on nagasaki and miscellaneous other events that have happened. we are evil and greedy. we spread hate around the world, and everyone has to pay for our sins.

there was more, but of course i wasnt going to hear much more of that. nobody "deserved" to die. what happened to nagasaki was to end a war (it was retaliation in itself). i was a bit upset with this, so i said so, of course. she talked about how peaceful brazil was and how we always got into affairs with guns blazing. she left before i could tell her how "peaceful" i know brazil to be, especially with their inhumane treatment of prisoners, et al. but it's probably better that way.

here's what i learned: if you're gonna ask someone a question like this....brace yourself. it may not all be sympathy and understanding. at the same time...let's just say she's not on my buddy list anymore

what happened in nagasaki does not compare in any way to what happened yesterday. nagasaki was a strike against a country during mutual warfare; i have no doubt that if they could have done it to us, they would have. although Germany is the most notorious for their execution of Jews in death camps during WW-II, the Japanese were conduction chemical/biological warfare research that was twice as appauling.

what happened in NY is an act for no other purpose other than to inspire terror and fear into US citizens, it had no higher goal to accomplish.

we were not at war and bombing our enemies.
we were not torturing POW's in camps.
we were not training our citizens to fight in the event of an invasion.

there is no way that what happened should be thought of as justifiable for our past actions. the US has never done anything to anyone with this level of disrespect or human life.

may our respone to this act of terror be strong and swift.

The US hasn't always been an angel...we've committed some crimes on other countries too, although nothing close to this. I am not saying we deserved this because no one does and I think it's sick, but if you look around the world we have lost many friends.

anyways, i got an email from my cousing in switzerland. they seemed pretty concerned. still in shock of what happened, but more so concerned of the acts of bush. they seemed to be concerned of whether our not bush is goin to respond in a correct fashion. (afriad of him goin guns blazing)...that seems to be the censensus over there.

on a side note, yesterday in switzerland, they rang all the church bells, and suspended all transportation for 1 min in honor/respect of what happened.
