that's the point of "terrorist groups" is to inflict terror and anger in citizens of other countries. but i agree with you that this is something that should be considered an act of war and those that did it exterminated.

It is interesting because the same thing happens in Israel.

The Jews there are very divided between themselves, but whenever there is a serious threat or terrorist act, everyone forgets their differences and joins together.

The same thing will happen here. There will be no political parties, only US citizens allied against the terrorists.

perhaps W can now truly be a "uniter and not a divider" as he has always claimed.

in a fair fight... but if you're caught by surprise and the other guy gets just a little lucky, he wins even with no weapon. not a whole lotta room to maneuver in a plane, like there is in a bar or an alley, and i seem to remember reading that they killed the stewardesses first, to lure the pilots out... and maybe they were somewhat cooperative cuz they figured, as in past hijackings, they needed the pilots, and they just wanted to be flown to [insert country here.]

The hijackers were quoted as saying something like "go along with us and you won't be hurt"

This was from the tower because one of the pilots "keyed" his mic so everything was heard.

They said that since the hijackers disabled the transponders, they could also have disabled the flight recorders (black boxes) too so there might not be other records of exactly what happened.

Bah, anyone can be taken out in a few seconds. most people don't realize how easy it is. With a little training anyone can do a lot of damage. personally when someone threatens my life or another persons life, i take it to heart. If I were on a hijacked plane, I would feel like I would have to do something. Maybe I would say differently if I don't have a background in martial arts. But if 50 people attack 3-6 people at the same time, I think the passengers would win. Seeing what can happen when people hijack planes, I think passengers should fight back.

The sad thing is that this isn't entirely true...
there have been attacks on Americans of the Middle Eastern decent...yeah, we've heard that some were celebrating, but u know...can't say they're all bad and messed up, we all know that.

there have been mosques that have been vandalized, and reports of Arabic Americans in NYC that have been attacked as well...

i'm praying that Americans don't have to suffer from this bigotry displayed by the few :(

i don't wholly disagree with you. i, too, would be compelled to do something. but i would probably die doing it. most of the passengers were probably not the adventurous types, so cut your figure down to 10 people attacking 3-6 armed, trained fighters.

i agree that i would at least try. you're dying either way...with a chance for survival to boot. however, we weren't there, so any discussion like this is purely speculation.
